View Full Version : Thunder: The Thunder will win the championship this year

You heard it here first folks. Way too many people are forgetting how great the team played through the playoffs only for Harden to disappear. Having gotten as far as they have last year, the only thing that is inevitably left is the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Look for the Thunder to dominate the regular season and playoffs. The Finals vs Miami will be tough but the sun can't shine on a dog's ass in two consecutive years.

:lobt:

Son, Collison/Ibaka/Crawford got you to the Finals, only for Harden to choke on his beard and Chimpbrick to go 4-20 in the clincher... :lmao

Young, yes. I don't see this team going anywhere with Chimpbrook acting as the alpha though

Lucky? Last I recall they didn't face three TOSB teams on the way to the Finals.

I'm a big critic of Westbrook. I think he's playing in a position that doesn't necessarily help the team. He's really a shooting guard. That's a knock on coach Brooks but oh well...Alot of people forget that we didn't have Maynor for back up point guard duties. A lot of those minutes that you saw Westbrook play should have been Maynor's minutes. He's a capable and serviceable backup point that could start for a lot of other teams.

Lucky? Last I recall they didn't face three TOSB teams on the way to the Finals.
I'm gonna pretend you are just trolling here.

The Thunder faced the teams that have dominated the West for the past decade. They tore them a new asshole. Had it not been for the first two games of the WCF, we should've swept the Spurs. That one game we lost against the Lakers was lost due to officiating.

On the other hand, Miami played some of the weakest competition to be fielded in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Capable teams like Chicago were literally removed from competition when D. Rose's injury surfaced. Dwight Howard's magic could have made some noise, but we all know how that went down.

Who did the Heat face?

A washed up Boston Celtics team? An inexperienced team in Indiana? A shit team in the Knicks? Come on man.

one of the worst thunder trolls to ever emerge on this site tbh. it might come one day when the thunder win the NBA championship but it ain't happening anytime soon, at least not in the next 2 or 3 seasons while miami still dominate. thunder just stung the spurs by monkeyball but miami will beat everyone to this. you ain't beating a fish in swimming, even if you're michael phelps

It's their last chance at it. Durant/Westchuck, Ibaka's contract and Bin Harden leaving means they won't have another crack at the Finals for a long time. Wait for Durant to bolt for Boston, NY or Chicago in the future.

They had so many opportunities to build them a stadium and didn't because the team sucked for the most part after losing Kemp. Meanwhile the Mariners get decent so they build them a stadium, then they build one for the Seahawks. It's their right to be shitty unsupportive fans, but they can't complain after the fact when the team finds someone who will build them good arena. That Sonicsgate documentary is such whiny crap when they act like it's their birth-right to have a team there. LOL @ everyone there all of a sudden liking the Sonics once the team was sold and it was way too late to keep them from going to Oklahoma.

Perkins is a serviceable Dwight Howard defender. He makes Howard work for his shots like no one else does. Pau Gasol's pussification will continue this season. World Peace has regressed to scrub status, he's no longer a factor in games. Kobe is kobe. Nash is old, a mismatch that will be taken advantage of by Westbrook. Anything else you got?

Perk is too slow to cover the pick and roll. If Mike Brown lets Nash and Eddie Jordan do their thing they'll do the pick and roll ad nauseam; this isn't Orlando where Dwight simply muscles into the post to create opportunities for open threes.

Chimpbrook will burn Nash but the vet's more consistent shooting evens it out, tbh...

MWP isn't a real factor but he can still elbow Flop So Harden, tbh...

Dwight Howard is not a pick and roll player. He's more of a post up player. If Nash attempts to run a strictly pick-and-roll offense, Dwight Howard will have growing pains in that area. Plus, he's quite injury prone. That has a lot to do with the Magic riding his shoulders year in and year out.

Westbrook will burn Nash just like Parker burned Nash back in the mid-2000 Spurs-Suns series.

You do realize Howard was one of the most dominant players when Orlando did run the P&R? Plus, it's not as if they have a Pau Gasol.

Last I recall it wasn't Parker beating Nash that decided those series. It was the fact that Amar'e Stoudemire couldn't defend Tim Duncan.

Please tell me how successful the Magic were by employing the pick and roll. Did it realistically get them anywhere? Any basketball fan that thinks about the Magic of the last couple of years thinks of dumping the ball down to Howard and letting him go to work. Perkins gave him fits back when he was in Boston.

Pau gasol, as I mentioned, won't be a factor. Serge will cancel him out.

Parker made Nash his bitch. Go watch some games if you need to.

Mostly because the Magic didn't have a good point guard. What, is Jameer Nelson a top PG simply because he made an All-Star game?

What if Pau backs down on Ibaka? He's mediocre on man defense.

Of course Parker ate up Nash, even a rookie PG like Lillard (:lol tlong) burned him. The simple fact was that if you have a mediocre defensive PG he should be compensated by a good defensive big. Unfortunately Nash AND Stoudemire are walking punchlines on D.

OKC will have the edge against the lakers imho. lakers look better on paper than the prior season but it doesn't increase their odd against OKC, nash is a liability at the defensive end which's more than what he can compensate for at the other end of the floor. DH aint much of an upgrade over a healthy bynum, plus their squad is 1yr older. which in all doesn't mean the OKC are champions material, however, they'll probably win the west but that'll only give them the rights to get asskicked by us heat in the finals once again tbh

Get a winning record against us and then you can talk about having a better franchise, B.... :lol

The Thunder are so thin it's laughable. If Durant or Westbrook go down, their bench is absolute garbage. Just admit your franchise hasn't done shit. When Laker and Spurs fans talk shit to each other it's because they have the history to back it up. The Thunder haven't done anything. Nothing. Its laughable that you think making it to the Finals is an achievement.

No, the Sonics' history (which includes the title) will legally belong to the next Seattle NBA team, whenever they come into existence, tbh....
Oh, that's great news. Now Thunderfan will have nothing to fall back on.

Also, not winning the Finals on their first trip in a lockout season? :lmao

I can't wait for the Bobcats to make it to the Finals so we can get a few Bobcat alts in here.

We didn't steal anything. We were awarded for being a great city and a great place for an NBA franchise.

Keep hating.

you were awarded a few high picks for being a shitty team and were lucky that your top drafts didn't turn out to be craps like yao, thabeet etc... and OKC was never a great city nor a place that deserves an NBA franchise, or any team in other major sports

My go-to move is reality. The Thunder are a better franchise than the Clippers have been in 23 years less. You have yet to refute that.
Thunder are just the zombie of supersonics which ceased to exist in 07 iirc. OKC stole the franchise from seattle but were not allowed to inherit the name supersonics, so they unwillingly picked the name "thunder" which sounds even more WNBA style than silverstar tbh. you saw other franchises making similar location changes in NBA history (hornets, grizzlies etc...) but i don't know many of them that had to change their names to get the move done

Thunder will not win the Championship this year. You think just because they made it to the Finals last year they are guaranteed to be there again? They didn't improve in the off-season and got owned in the Finals. The West is alot closer (Lakers / Spurs / Thunder) than everyone is predicting. It's wide open this year!

Have you guys actually won a Western Conference title? How many playoff series have the Clippers won? 2? lmaooooo

The Thunder have eclipsed and gained more success than the Clippers in 23 less years. Stings, doesn't it?

:lmao @ having to trash talk by bragging about "western conference titles"

the western championship is open for competition and its gonna be a dogfight among lakers/spurs/OKC and maybe them mavs, but the west winner is only gonna get asskicked in the finals by the eventual champs (miami heat) which's almost guaranteed
