Empire Carpeting

yesterday, we had an Empire rep come over and talk to us about new flooring. This appt. was set up by my wife. The rep comes in and goes over the options and shows us some different laminate wood, carpeting, and tile products. We make some choices, laminate, carpet, and tile. When he gives us the total cost, it's about 2x what I had estimated in my head.

I've read some pretty bad reviews about them since last night. Most having to do with their cost. Several posts recommended using local companies that have good references.

Anyone else have any experience with Empire?
