Can they still be stashed as Toros while on waivers or are they gone forever?

Powell takes last spot I guess. Hopefully he gets a chance to prove himself.

Green probably still looking for direction to change rooms, now gone, again.

After Curry was cut, no surprises here

ST consensus was they just picked up Green so they could waive him and have rights to send him to the Toros. Appears that must be the case.

I thought Witherspoon did pretty good, a whole lot better than Powell anyway. I just don't get what they are thinking. Surely they know how terrible Powell has been in every team he's been on.

I don't know. I still have a feeling Powell isn't guaranteed a spot yet.

Either way, can't wait to see Matty be the first big off the bench. :hungry:

It seems the last few years they do not do alot of thinking with some of the decisions they make and who they keep etc. Good with the bad and I will take it, but why Powell?

Sounds like he is a good locker room presence.

Well, I don't get what Spurs are trying to do. Spurs have now 4 players with Diaw, Bonner, Blair and Powell that should only be playing PF.

Keeping Powell makes only sense in one of the following case:
1) Pop thinks Powell can be a significative upgrade Bonner and Blair and want to give him a shot at being the backup PF behind Diaw.
2) Pop wants to give minutes to some of these players at the C slot.
3) Spurs are engaged in some trade talks featuring Bonner and/or Blair.
4) Spurs are just keeping Powell as a reward of his good training camp and aren't really thinking about how he could help the team.
5) Spurs are keeping Powell for a limited amount of time and are looking at signing another player for this 15th roster spot.

2) and 4) sucks.

Wow. It's difficult to get too upset about the 15th man but this has (relative) disaster written all over it. If Pop falls in love with Powell and puts him in the rotation, let's hope that love is short-lived and Pop comes to his senses before Powell does too much damage.

Powell history is that he will earn a spot in the rotation ... and he'll eventually lose it. But, damn, does he really kill the team he's on between those two points in time.

As bad as Bonner and Blair can be, Powell is a definite downgrade to either one. At least Bonner at his worst is just invisible and Blair at his worst still mixes in some good with his bad. Powell at his worst is literally the absolute worst player and the most damaging player in the entire NBA ... as the last seven years of his career has proven as fact.

The problem with Powell is that he's a good mid range shooter for a big. In itself, this is a good thing. But his teams(and him) tend to get him shots there, and while he converts them well relative to league average for that shot type, the performance is well below league average for a possesion(And this only gets worse when accounting for poor rebound% on mid range shots relative to other distances).

Hoping for a trade, or that Powell is just a practice dummy. Him playing is the worst.

And just exactly WHAT was the 2-day old JaMychal Green experiment all about?

If someone has any idea, please clue me in.

Of course, we're only talking about the 15th spot on the roster, yet it's hard to figure out exactly WTF this FO is doing?

It'll be interesting to see if a team claims Witherspoon off waivers. Doubtful but it could happen if a team watches game tape of that game he started.
