Duncan one of the most underrated clutch players of all-time

I've been saying this to people for years. Most big men usually aren't that great in crunch time and aren't clutch. TD is one of the most clutch of all time. That's one of the reasons why he is so great.

LakerHater
10-31-2012, 09:30 PM

Didn't he kill the Spurs with outside shooting when he was with the Grizz? I agree with your take, but it seems like an odd juxtaposition.

You're right, I have seen him make 3s before, but he's a career 31% 3pt shooter. I think he's very streaky.

At his age he's unlikely to make a great leap, but if he could improve that to 37% like he shot pre-season he'd be much scarier.

A B2B, so Tim sits out the Home opener??

No way. Tim will probably sit some B2Bs this season, but it's only the second game. He's plenty fresh from the offseason, and any rest he gets in October isn't going to help him in May.

Couple that with it being the home opening, and there is no way Pop sits Tim.

Disappointing?

I don't know what you were expecting.

From what I've heard his shooting has been off and his touch around the rim wasn't where it was last year. I also heard he was trying to do too much this offseason but wasn't quite there yet. Tonight he looked like an all-star.

Ice009
10-31-2012, 09:35 PM
Hmm Bonner doesn't see time in the 2nd half and look what happens

I can't believe some of the comments I am seeing about Bonner, stuff I was saying in 2009, people are only just saying now about him. Someone said in this thread that they can't stand to even see him on the court anymore. What has taken people so long to realize that he shouldn't even be on the court? Why does he even have fans in San Antonio that turn up to the games to root for him?

Horrible player that has no business being on this team.

10-31-2012, 09:48 PM
I know it's only one game and the preseason is the preseason, but on the heels of an uninspiring preseason, this bordered on alarming about as much as this game realistically could have. 95 points, on just under 44% shooting, to a team missing their lone bonafide scorer and playing without a true point guard, is unacceptable. So is being down 7 at half and for a good amount down the stretch.

As an aside, I think they may just have to go with a 9 and 1/2 rotation. Spot Bonner or Blair in here or there when necessary, but try to get away with a combination of Splitter/Jackson/Leonard playing backup PF as much as possible. At some point though, unless they're going to attempt to upgrade the second or third big spot to the point where they can essentially play a three big rotation, they're going to have to find a competent fourth big.

Ice009
10-31-2012, 09:49 PM

sons Austin Rivers can't possibly be this bad .... has to be opening night jitters or something.

Until proven otherwise, I think the Hornets took Austin Rivers to keep their win total down so they can get high picks, even though Davis and Anderson should make them win often.

Timmy: Came to play. Probably wanted to prove he was better than Davis even in his old ass form. If you look at the stat sheet, Duncan did have 5 TO, but 2 of those were due to terrible passes and he pretty much didn't even get a chance to collect the ball before it was stolen. Duncan also took a hot dump on Davis any time he was matched up with him. Look at Davis' +/-. -20 (worst of either team) to Duncan's +13 (best of Spurs).

Parker: Parker still looks good. I think he got jobbed on a couple calls (non calls when he was fouled), but it ended up not mattering.

Kawhi: Impressive game imo. I liked his effort all around, especially on all those steals

Jackson: He kinda phoned it in tonight. Hope he puts in more effort tomorrow.

And I guess as for Davis, I think he did pretty well overall, but he was getting some ridiculous calls. Did not deserve at least two of them if not three.

Ice009
10-31-2012, 09:59 PM

Blair needs to grow up and stop acting like a fucking high school kid. I'd be upset too but the twitter posts are annoying and immature.

Trade him for a second rounder at this point. Keep that stuff in house Dejuan.

Keeping it in house is what gets Matt Bonner on the court. Pops need a wake up call for playing Bonner so many minutes year after year.

And no, we are not trading him for a second rounder. Complete waste of an asset. Blair would be best used in a package deal to try and get another player back with.

Little Doc: Popovich can still remember Hornets rookie Austin Rivers tagging along at the Alamodome with his father Doc as a preschooler in the mid-1990s.

“It makes you realize you’re getting a little older,” Popovich said.

Brown resigns as Aussie coach: Spurs assistant Brett Brown has stepped down as coach of the Australian national team.

Brown guided the squad — known colloquially as the “Boomers” — for four years, culminating in a seventh-place finish at the London Olympics this past summer.

Im sitting on the fence on that game. I have a feeling Hornets will be decent this year. They picked up an offensive D12 in the draft. They could be in the mix later this year with their new roster.

We need as many wins as possible... Gotta get that 1 rank to avoid a difficult finals run.

DB's got to work on hitting 3-pointers. He can't get taller. It's kind of dumb for Pop to not be playing him when he's got more trade value than Bonner and it's a contract year.

Should? Really dude? We're being that conservative now? We're playing it that safe? :rolleyes

After watching the game I think "should" was exactly the right wording ... but seriously, I expected an easier game ... my respect for Monty Williams is very high

Not really ideal for NO. One more bad season, high lottery pick and they will have a team set for a long term challenge.

it all depends on A. Davis tbh. If he ends up being dominant, they can grow from there and start winning and building the team around him. His ceiling is quite huge tbh

A. Davis first nba game 21 7 1 stl 1 blk 50% FG 100% FT. Tim in his first game 35 mn 15 pts 10 reb and 2 blks

not saying that A.Davis has Tim's ceiling but we never know, kid is special tbh

One thing is for sure. Davis will be better than Timmy in FT shooting :lol

Lillard was pretty impressive as well against LA.

I think both will fight for ROY this season.

Thing is they don't want to be too good too soon. They have a great piece in Davis who will make them a contender, but as we saw in Cleveland with LeBron even all time greats can't do it on their own. Another good pick along with Rivers fulfilling at least some of his potential will make them serious challengers in a couple of years.

And they still can expect Eric Gordon back. They have a chance of being pretty good.

if he keeps on running his mouth on social media, he will continue to be in teh doghouse or best of all get traded

That's probably the only smart post you've ever made, but it's a pretty good one. Try to keep it up!

I am not sure Gordon wants to play for the Hornets.
