i think cuban made the right choice in keeping good financial flexibility rather than re-signing TC to a long-term deal. NY got him on a long deal and they're still far from the best of the new england region, and it's not like them mavs could've won any more rings even if they had re-signed him. 11' was just a fluke and they should be satisfied to have reaped the lucky ring before the establishment of the miami dynasty, which's gonna dominate the league for many years from 2012 onward

mavs are looking damn good now and they're much younger than previous seasons. they're on a good path to some sustainable success think. guys like collison, mayo and crowder will give them a decent core to build around when dirk calls time to his career, rather than get them tied to mediocrity for years if they had killed their finance by paying the grey beards ridiculous money. they will probably not win another ring anytime soon, but nor will any other team not named miami heat. at least a young squad will keep them in the playoff range and give them hope every year, despite not winning shit.
