Holy shit. IIRC Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2 both did that in just over two weeks or so. I figured this one would be sure to take that record inside of 10 days if this game lived up to its hype in the least but I also figured that enough people felt like they had been burned by the last one that they'd wait for some solid word of mouth to go around before buying. Plus with the release coming fairly early in a school year I thought maybe there would be a little lag as a big chunk of the target audience could have to wait until Friday night or the weekend to pick a copy up. I know that word travels faster than ever these days but...yeah, holy shit.

Traded in my 160GB console for store credit towards the 500GB Bundle with GTA5. Played it for like 10 hours so far this weekend and I'm really enjoying it. What stands out to me the most is unlike previous GTA games, where parts of the city that were in the distance would look really shitty (from a graphics perspective) and sort of like, "load" into focus whenever you drove closer to them...this game seems to look good even in the backgrounds, and not suffer from that at all. I think it's a lot easier to drive the cars in this game than it was in GTA4 which makes for a better game experience, and I also thoroughly enjoy the in-mission checkpoints.

The story's good so far. I'm sure I haven't even put a dent in the overall progress yet but Los Santos is awesome so far and can't wait to put some more time in so I better understand how to drive around the city and don't have to whore out the GPS all day.

Passive mode is mandatory starting off. The sawed off shotgun is free for you if you are a memberof thesocial club.

They also killed the garage in that area, there was an exploit where platers could shoot through the fence and not get aimed at by the enemies. They should have just blocked the fence instead of not letting people go into the garage though. Deaths now only cost 500

I was really skeptical after how horrible IV was; especially since IV got reviews every bit as good as what V has. I always figured GTASA would be the high water mark for the series, but shockingly, V feels fresh still and is significantly better. I love playing the three characters on the heists, which outdo the gang wars from San Andreas that used to be my favorite part of the series. I also think it's a huge bonus that the checkpoint system ensures you don't spend all your time driving to the mission when you keep getting killed.

Looks like this shit performs pretty badass on PC at launch even, though I guess it should be expected to since it doesn't have the crazy detailed grass and shit like you see in Dragon Age Inquisition or Crysis 3.

I was getting inconsistent frames when on my HDTV, but the G-Sync monitor very, very rarely dropped below 60 in game. This game has the most in depth graphical settings options of any game I've played, and the only two settings I messed with is MSAA off, and shadows at normal. Everything else is maxed.

Damn, texture quality makes almost no difference when it comes to performance with a 2GB card or better but it makes a night and day difference for image quality. Even Very High vs High looks hugely different, unlike say Shadows of Mordor where medium and 6GB ultra look almost the same.

Holy fuck, that's hilarious. Still, there are some much funnier moments later on in the game, especially involving Trevor and then Michael's fat fuck kid.

The missions are the complete opposite of tedious GTA IV. No dull missions I can recall, whereas every single mission in IV felt like doing laundry or closing Oblivion gates.

When I first got the game on XBox 360 half the time I just liked hiking up the mountains for the views. It's gotta really be something on PC. Wow, the internet is full of shit. I heard lots of people complaining about GTA V on the GTX 970, and having just got this the 970 demolishes the game. I have everything on Very High except MSAA is off in the Graphics settings and I'm pulling 75-100 FPS driving on the highway, 100-120 FPS on foot in the city, 70-90 FPS on the mountains in areas with dense grass even in the rain, and the whole benchmark runs mostly 100-120 FPS except the last segment in the Hummer when it runs 80-100 FPS. Just fucking butter smooth when I turn VSync on to 60 FPS. I haven't messed with the Advanced Graphics tab yet. But all these things I heard were performance killers like setting shadows to softest, turning grass up to the highest setting, maxing out pedestrian density, etc don't seem to affect the i5 + 970 combo at all. Maybe it was just a problem on the initial release, but it definitely doesn't seem to be one now. BTW I never use MSAA anymore now that postprocess antialiasing looks so good. I hate how GeForce Experience always recommends 4xMSAA for practically every game that has that option. Oh yeah, turned off motion blur too since that's useless when you can push 60 FPS; only makes sense to turn that one when you're getting 30 FPS like on the consoles. :lol

Rockstar really did an amazing job optimizing this game. And what a difference on i5 + GTX 970 vs XBox360. I mean Vice City looked a lot nicer on a good gaming PC than XBox/PS2, San Andreas looked somewhat better on PC, but V looks night and day better. Especially the road and building textures.

Well, I am hitting 56-57 FPS running through a meadow with lots of flowers, but otherwise it locks to 60 FPS. Post Process on ultra isn't worth it, you get a more blurred bloom and god ray effect at the cost of another few FPS. Mines on high.

MSAA gets turned off on all my games. It just isn't worth it with FXAA like you said, on a smaller monitor. Better AA becomes more of a requirement for me when I hook up my 55" HDTV.

The extended draw distance is only noticeable if you are stopped admiring the scenery and actively looking to spot the difference in polygons that haven't loaded yet. I'd use it but only because of the satisfaction of turning every dial to the right. Maybe if I was gaming on a 1080p bigscreen TV MSAA would be noticeable, but on a 27" inch 1080p screen it doesn't improve image quality much.

Speaking of GTA V, I just tried Watch Dogs courtesy ^^nosTEAM^^, and what a piece of shit in comparison. Watch Dogs reminds me of GTA IV with the whiny lead character, the really stiff driving and walking, and on top of that it runs like a dog when you're driving while not looking half as good as GTA V which I get a locked 60 fps on. And the first thing you do with a game like that is start blasting people so you can get in gunfights with the cops. I think I must have executed about 30 people in the street and still no police show up. :lol

Visual V looks alright in some parts, but you can tell it's hurting this guy's framerate. I have a similar setup to him and on vanilla the game looks just as good and never drops below about 80 fps in the city for me, while you can see this guy is probably dropping into the twenties at times.

I don't like the mods that make night so dark. It doesn't make any sense in the city, considering LA is pretty fucking bright at night anyways with all the light pollution and the marine layer of clouds that always rolls in. And that one storm setting looks horrible the way it flashes. GTA V is such a well optimized game I don't want to fuck around with it and lose that completely smooth framerate.
