GTA 5 will be featured in the next Game Informer magazine coming out November 8th and it will feature 18 pages of details. Pictures have been leaked twice this past week(feel free to post them, I'm on my phone) and a letter has been sent from R* to stores like Target, future shop etc stating that preorders start Novemer 5th and that A 2nd trailer has been released.

My guess is the trailer comes out Friday the 2nd or Monday

Yeah, Rockstar is the best game developer imo, they always release high quality games and even though i prefer any of the last gen GTA's over IV, GTA IV still is a great game and Red Dead Redemption is a fucking masterpiece.

With GTA V, they should add more stuff to do outside the main story missions, something GTA IV lacked and improve the controls, get rid of the GTA IV tank-like controls. Max Payne's controls are great, stick to that formula minus the slow motion.

Reasons some games were banned were mainly because it was either for Mature Audiences or banned, now they have a restricted one.

Don't really care about super duper top of the line graphics tbh, just want them to improve the controls and offer good, varied gameplay.

I'm a GTA fan and played the majority of the last gen GTA's and those games already looked graphically dated the moment they were released. Only this gen Rockstar decided to step up their graphical game.

If you watch the GTA V trailer, you can definitely notice a huge graphical improvement from GTA IV to GTA V. It looks great for an open world game but if you want to play a graphical beast, your best bet is to wait for the PC version and hope they don't screw up the port.

I'll definitely give this one a shot, but I never like the GTA games as much as I want to. I like other Rockstar games and other open world games, but the balance is all off in this franchise. There's too big a difference between the shit I want to be doing and the stuff I can actually do when the game starts. The clunky starting missions and the tedium of getting across town in a shit car and/or while avoiding police attention always turn me off long before I get to the fun of airplanes, sports cars, and rocket launchers.

Following the unveiling of Game Informer's Grand Theft Auto V cover for its December issue earlier today, the first batch of details have dropped from the 18-page spread, revealing everything from the names of the three new protagonists, to a few facts about the open-world of Los Santos, the missions and some of the gameplay apsects.

Here's the first bunch of details from GI, via NeoGAF:

Three Protagonists: Trevor (redneck), Michael (older white guy), and Franklin (black/mixed guy).
Each character has his own personality, motivation, and skillset.
Vehicles: cars and trucks, bikes (BMX, mountain), dirtbikes, ATVs, helicopters, planes, and jet skis.
Los Santos in GTA V is bigger than the worlds of RDR, San Andreas, and GTA IV combined.
Heists will be predominantly featured in GTA V. (Heat, anyone?)
Customise your look but not San Andreas style RPG elements.
Side-missions that Rockstar mentioned include: yoga, triathlons, tennis, and golf.
Random NPC encounters are back and more developed.
The ocean floor is detailed and can be explored.

Rockstar promises:

More fleshed out missions ala "Three Leaf Clover".
More complex side missions and activities similar to Red Dead. "It's better to have one really good mini game than five half-assed ones that aren't fun".
Better driving controls
Improved shooting mechanics
Refined melee combat
Vibrant in-game economy (but no buying property)

We'll update this post as more details emerge. Grand Theft Auto V is out in spring 2013.

And apparently you can follow pedestrians throughout the day as they go through their routines. For example a gardener will be at a bus stop in the morning and you can find him later on in the day working on someone's yard/sprinklers etc. cool small details

What do you not like about it?

Well, for one thing, it's already fighting an uphill battle for me by virtue of being an open world game. I've liked many, but it's a genre I've never fully embraced and the GTA series tends to exemplify most of the things I don't like about those games. Riding my horse through the western landscape in Red Dead Redemption is fun, climbing the buildings and leaping from the rooftops in Infamous is fun, even driving across town in LA Noire is fun, but trying to get across town in the GTA games is horrible tedium. I don't know if that has to do with the car controls, or the size of the map, or the fact a police chase can leave you on the opposite side of town from where you were trying to go, or some combination of the above, but it just isn't as hiding the things I hate about open world games as some others have been.

But that doesn't really have much to do with the GTA games, specifically, as it does with the genre. When it comes to GTA, I'm generally not a huge fan of the mission structure. That's obviously not a problem for all missions, but has been hugely annoying for a number of them. Also, I realize that part of any game with role playing elements is starting with low skills/cash and shitty weapons/car/etc. and building to better and better stuff, but it feels as though the disparity is too great in the GTA games compared to other series. The early levels of the games are often such a pain to slog through that I've given up before getting to the fun weapons and crazy missions.

I might be in the minority, but I really don't like the idea of switching between multiple characters. I've always liked games that require you to work as a team with other characters and even set up a game plan (as the game suggests you can choose how to approach missions). But I really don't want to take direct control over all the characters. I want to have to trust, and anticipate, the other guys' actions.

Well, for one thing, it's already fighting an uphill battle for me by virtue of being an open world game. I've liked many, but it's a genre I've never fully embraced and the GTA series tends to exemplify most of the things I don't like about those games. Riding my horse through the western landscape in Red Dead Redemption is fun, climbing the buildings and leaping from the rooftops in Infamous is fun, even driving across town in LA Noire is fun, but trying to get across town in the GTA games is horrible tedium. I don't know if that has to do with the car controls, or the size of the map, or the fact a police chase can leave you on the opposite side of town from where you were trying to go, or some combination of the above, but it just isn't as hiding the things I hate about open world games as some others have been.

But that doesn't really have much to do with the GTA games, specifically, as it does with the genre. When it comes to GTA, I'm generally not a huge fan of the mission structure. That's obviously not a problem for all missions, but has been hugely annoying for a number of them. Also, I realize that part of any game with role playing elements is starting with low skills/cash and shitty weapons/car/etc. and building to better and better stuff, but it feels as though the disparity is too great in the GTA games compared to other series. The early levels of the games are often such a pain to slog through that I've given up before getting to the fun weapons and crazy missions.

yeah i hate games with a reward based system that instead of awarding you with awesome stuff, it scales down what you have in the beginning. that's especially true with multiplayer games - where the "learning curve" is actually how many perks you can unlock and then it scales exponentially when you start farming kills.

the A10/frogfoot in bf3 for example. once i unlocked laser guided missiles...i could single out targets on the missile camera and mow everything down. i'd go 46-0 in one game, and the only enjoyable thing about it was getting all the hate mail.

(skyrim notwithstanding. starting off with absolutely nothing is what makes that game.)

Did they address the changing lanes thing? It's stupid that in order to change lanes, the whole car has to turn which causes the car to swerve all the damn time instead of keeping the car straight . This would greatly improve the driving.

looking at the achievements there's an online hoard mode as well as finally adding mods to weapons. They are also bringing back buying property. There are an asston of online chevos though.

Characters:
Franklin usually hangs out in the ghetto, Trevor in the wastelands, and Michael in the business districts.
Your character's health regenrates to 50% only.
Sometimes you will be prompted to use certain characters - at other times you can choose yourself.
A coloured flash on screen will signal a switch to a particular character. Michael is blue, Franklin is green, and Trevor is orange.
Simeon's dealership has quite a lot of high-end vehicles which Franklin can use immediately.
One of a kind encounters may occur such as Lamar acting agressively towards a hobo.
Chop belongs to Lamar, not Franklin.
Chop can distract enemies, giving an advantage against them.
Each protagonist has a very distinctive walk and feel to them.
Main characters and NPC have thousands of custom animations.

Weapons:
The main weapon wheel is broken down into a series of subcategories; after scrolling with the stick to the weapon type you want, left and right on the D-pad will cycle between additional individual weapons.
The wheel will store all of the weapons you collect and you will never lose them, even if they run out of ammo or you get busted. It's estimated that players can hold about 14 weapons.
You can throw weapons to the other protagonists.
Sniper Rifles can be upgraded with a Thermo Scope which can be activated on the run.
Miniguns destroy vehicle almost instantly.
The ability to fire whilst prone and rolling around returns from Max Payne 3 at a mission with Trevor.
There are Ammu-Nation stores which are open at night.
Players can have a shooting scope of 360 degrees so that they can strategically decide what they need to do.
You can adjust the power, rate of fire and gauge levels of the weapons.
AI constantly changes their position to get a better shot at you.

Vehicles:
There are four different in-vehicle views in addition to cinematic mode. However the cockpit view will not be included.
Trains are drivable.
if a saved vehicle is abandoned or destroyed, it can be recovered (for a fee) at the local impound lot.
Each vehicle type has a unique type of handling, for example the pick-up truck doesn't stick to the road as well as a supercar.
You can turn a car's engine on and off.
Pedestrians react differently to carjackings now, such as speeding off when aimed or shot at with a weapon.
Drivers flip you off after collisions.
Car crashes usually leave trails of fuel, which can in turn be used to blow them up.
Chopper controls are extremely alike to GTAIV, and landing them is more straightforward.
Engine realism such as engine stuttering and black smoke shooting out was noted.
Car explosions and aftermath much more realistic than IV's.
Hearses are NOT good for escaping cops.
For racing, Rockstar has relied on Midnight Club: Los Angeles's gameplay mechanics for the driving in V.

When missions end, the aftermath "spills over" into freeroam - as noted when a car is blown up at the end of a mission, fire engines will rush to the still destroyed car, whereas in IV the world would simply "reset".
There will be split second decision makings which adds a Hollywood-esque feels to the gameplay.
"Derailed" involves Trevor chasing a train of cargo on a dirtbike (All you had to do was follow the damn train Trevor).
At one point in "Nervous Ron" a light is shot out to prevent a dead body being discovered.
"Vinewood Babylon" involves using a weapon similar to what Bruce Willis uses to blast off Jack Blacks arm in "The Jackal".
One of the missions shown involved breaking the target out of the FIB building.
If you go up to a mission marker, you go straight into a cutscene and straight out smoothly, similar to Max Payne 3.
There are mission checkpoints.
Every single mission is replayable like The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Masks, glasses and such can be equiped from an inventory menu.
You will have mission playlists if you choose to enter them - or you can just jump into Free Roam mode.

The controls while shooting and moving your character, would you say are closer to Max Payne 3 or GTA IV?

Because Max Payne 3 has the best gunplay Rockstar has ever done imo, really precise but loose enough at the same time, while IV felt like driving a tank when i was shooting and moving my character, especially in tight spaces.

You can stick to cover using RB. I don't really remember Max Payne, but I think it might had that too. Haven't done much shooting while running, I mostly cover. It has auto-aim (to the chest), but you get rewarded for head shots. You can probably turn that off, but I haven't really been much in the options menu. The West Coast Classics radio station kicks ass, tbh...

This game has nothing of IV, tbh... It's much more like San Andreas. You have the city, the desert, the ocean. You have the poor areas, the rich areas, gangs, rednecks, etc.

They really went back to the roots, and there's some RDR on it too... you get some "freaks" encounters (marked ? on the map), which opens up new storylines.

It should come out. If you look at the 3 characters you can control, Michael (older, richer) uses an iphone lookalike, Franklin (black dude) uses an Android lookalike and Trevor (crazy dude) uses a Windows phone lookalike :lol

My plan was to just download the game from the network(which i did for COD Blk ops)...but the GTA V game install requires 36GB :shootme

So i said fuck it, went out today and bought a 500GB PS3 GTA V bundle from Target for $269. I had a $100 Target giftcard to soften the blow. I miss my blu ray films anyway. Transferring my data as we speak. Cant wait to get this game going.

It's alright. The driving is still a little too squirrely, which might improve once I get my driving stat up. I'm actually liking it less than Red Dead so far, which had better characters and a better story line. The amount of shit you can do in this game has Red Dead beat though. The world is more realized here. It looks bigger and busier. My one gripe with the way the game looks is that the animations are distractedly bad. The lip sync is off and the characters move awkwardly and stilted. It pulls you out of a little bit.

the first heist mission was fun. i fucking skimped out on my team. i picked some terrible hacker who panicked during the heist. he said he didnt eve know how to install an antivirus on his computer. i picked the best driver and for the guns guy i picked the chepeast cause it was stealth. that guy died fast.
i played a ton today, i just wanted to play as trevor, that dude is awesome.
rest of my fun was banging a prostitute, making it rain at the strip club, killing some animals, doing a 720 spin crash in the air by accident using a mini cooper type car.

It fixed for me this morning and I got my free upgrades car.


Holy fuck I also modded my lambo with 100,000$+ and it's sick as fuck. Pay attention to Lester during the assassination mission cutscenes. He gives u hints in what to invest in. I just profited 160k on the stoc market. This game is sick as fuck.


Also invested in the taco business and destroyed all the cluckin bell trucks and farm etc so my taco stock shares went up. Insider trading IMO. Fuckin love this game
