The Lakers' age isn't why they can't run SSOL, their lack of shooting is. The 2007 Suns were one of the oldest teams in the NBA which is why it relied on SSOL so much. It disguises an inability to score in the half court. Old teams fit D'antoni better than younger teams because the only way accountability happens on D'antoni's team is if the players hold themselves accountable. The reason it's a bad hire is because no matter how well the roster fits his system, D'antoni's system is built to lose.
