Same thing applies as in the Scola thread.

The issue is that Manu absolutely exploded this year. So if you take his NBA preformance, and not what he did in Argentina (as is the thread on Scola), I believe he'd be a consensus #1. You cannot win the Athens MVP, before you enter a draft, and not be the top pick.

Uh.... Would he be coming off of an NBA championship?

:wtf

No, but knowing how good he'd become. Where would he be drafted.

It's a hypo question.

Well if I could have any player from that draft, I'd take Manu. Second place would be Elton Brand.

DEFINITELY number one...

I'd say #1. But I'm not a coach or GM. So I'll go with top5.

I don't know about that. The thing is the international leagues don't play nearly as tough and physical a game as they do in the NBA, so I don't think that an Olympic MVP would automatically make the #1 slot. He might not even be in the top ten.

Coming off the Athens performance and assuming he was probably like a three time player of the year in Europe, someting like that, I'm guessing he'd be a first rounder. He wouldn't be a high lottery pick because I think teams would still overlook him.

Spurs got Manu in '99 which if he isn't the top talent out of that draft, he is #2. In 2001 the Spurs got Parker and he's top 5 in that draft. In 2004 the Spurs got Udrih and he's definitely top 10. If Scola pans out he should be top 10 or *knock on wood* top 5.

If it were 1999, he would still be a relatively unknown player so I would say about the same. :lol

Who had the #1-5 picks that year?

I think BSPN wrote an article about it, but it's insider stuff. I would like to read that, from 95 to last year.
