View Full Version : Stable of backs

Drew Brees mentioned that his Saints had the best stable of backs in the league. At first I thought...sure:rolleyes but ya know he is right. That gang of...

Mark Ingram....banger
Chris Ivory..banger

with more speed than the average banger.

Pierre Thomas an all around back
Darren Sproles the speed/receiver/out in space guy.

I can't think of a better group, anyone?

Speaking of a gang of backs...

This team had three backs all there at the same time, who all ended up in the Hall of Fame. What team?

The classic threesome...

Larry Czonka brusier
Mercury Morris fast.quick.elusive
Jim Kiick could do it all

It's gotta be either the Cowboys, Raiders or Seahawks. Definitely isn't the Miami Dolphins.

Wtf have ivory or Ingram done in their careers to warrant any kind of praise??

I truly don't understand this thread.

DUNCANownsKOBE

Ivory and Ingram are both mediocre (at best) power runners with no speed or elusiveness at all. I don't see how having them both is any range of diversity when them together is redundant.

I disagree, keep in mind we are talking them as a group. Ingram and Ivory break tackles, punish tacklers. Run hard. Thomas has some quicks, can do it all to some degree. Sproles your classic "out in space" back, will make you miss. I think it's a great mix of talent.

How long will it take for Avante to mention Ingram's heisman trophy as if it's at all relevant to this conversation? I say we're less than 10 posts away from it.

Couldn't be more wrong if you tried, it's as if you've never see them play. You have seen them play, right?

I'm not saying they are Alstott, Turner type power runners, I'm saying they run with power and some speed and elusiveness. I think you need to see more of them you don't seem to really know much about them.

Ingram has been a disappointment, but he played well the last game. Ivory is much better than him and is very productive in general, but he fumbles and gets injured a bit. He breaks tackles and is pretty fast.

Thomas is my favorite Saint by far. Pretty much does it all. Wish he would get more carries, but the team wants to save him. His injury in the Niners game was a big blow to the offense. Made the team one dimensional most of the game.

I wish the team would utilize these guys all the time instead of being pass happy. These backs are better than the WRs and the o-line is better at run blocking than pass blocking. Plus, it would keep the sorry defense off the field.

Yank your head out of you ass and start making some attempt to deal with reality.

We are talking depth here. And role playing, hence the word "stable". Ingram is not asked to be a featured back, that's not what I'm talking about at all. As a member of a group he fits the role he is asked to play perfectly. Keep in mind he has battled some injuries. Also keep in mind he has only been in the league a short time, his best days are ahead of him which should be more than obvious. If you can't see the potential there why am I not surprised?

Right there is your problem, great example. You look at things from a few weeks perspective, or what just happened, talk about lame. I look at the big picture, over time, not some few weeks anything. Who gives a fuck what happens over a few weeks? Hell, look at the Cards...4-0 then 0-5. Look at Geno Smith, from Heisman talk to nothing.

Things take time don't act like some dumb ass kid all the fucking time. Be patient that's what intelligent people do, don't get too jacked up over a few weeks, that's rookie.

You're past being an idiot.

Pay attention...

Frank Gore is on a whole different level than anything the Saints have and as we all know the Niners are a running team, the Saints are not. And this is about a stable of backs not who has the best running game. You really are an idiot aren't you?

This is what a ....stable of backs....means. Instead of having a 1400 rusher we will see 3/4 guys at around 500 yards. So let's talk about how many backs have that, I;m saying we will see more Saint backs with 500 of offense than we'll see from the Niners. Right now it's all about Gore with a little Kendall Hunter sprinkled in. You see that as a stable, hahahaha!!!!!

So I see the Saints having more backs involved in the offense than we'll see from the Niners.

Not at all, obviously you're too stupid to realize that. I'm not talking about who has the best running guy....NO DUH!!!!!!!! Who doesn't know that the Niners are arunning team and the Saints aren't, try everyone. This isn't about can the Saints out gain Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter. This is about how will that gang of Saints back do as a group. That's what a "stable" means.

I don't see any team in the league other than the Steelers with 3 guys who could all start and you wouldn't miss a beat. No we couldn't start Sproles he isn't going to bang the line.

Let's do this little fella....

I see the Saints having more backs getting involved in the offense than what we'll see from the Niners, Gore is their stud, he gets most the action that can't be said about the Saints.

So I have 4 Saint backs out performing 4 Niner backs as a group. Hell yes Frank Gore will have far more yards than any Saints back but that's not the point.

The Saints have the best stable of backs because both James and Jacobs haven't been playing. If they'd been there all along then I might think differently.

Frank Gore,...among the best feature backs in the league.
Kendall Hunter... could be the best backup in the league. Quick!
Brandon Jacobs...elite short yardage banger. Huge!
Anthony Dixon...a lesser power back but has some speed.
LaMichael James...one if the fastest backs in the league. No NFL wear and tear....yet!

That however isn't happening.

As of right now the Saints do have the best stable of backs. And the Niners are too far behind since Jacobs/James have been total non factors.

Oh yeah almost forgot.....you're stupid, eat shit and all that other junior high bullshit you need to play.

We don't really know what Jacobs has left, maybe he's done. Can James break tackles in the NFL, maybe not. Ok dummy, the Saints will have more backs play a bigger % role in their overall rushing total than any other team in the league. That's my deal.

Just because they all share time doesn't mean they're any good.

In fact, it usually means they are all equally mediocre and the coach is desperate to find one that stands out.

and no dumb fuck, a stable doesn't mean ” more than one”. It means ALL of them.

:cry stop trying to use Gore! He's not part of the stable because I say he's not! :cry

I would take the Saints group because they fit with the offense well and if one guy goes down, others can step in without a beat. Plus Sproles gives Brees a major weapon in the passing game. Not sure if they're the best group, but they fit with Brees really well.

If Gore goes down, there might be a slight drop, but I think it's clear Hunter can take his place.

If any of the Saints running backs go down, it's no big deal because none really stand out running the ball. Losing Sproles would hurt only because of his pass catching ability.

Kendall Hunter is not a tackle breaker, he is a speed back, no way in hell he can take Frank Gores place.

It's obvious you have no idea who Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram, Chris Ivory are, all of them are better than Kendall Hunter. Do you even watch the NFL?

Who gives a shit if Hunter can do it or not. The stats ate what they are.

49ers stable> Saints

If you want to bet that I'm wrong, then stop being a pussy and take my bet.

K, I'll make a wager with you then.

You take the Saints stable of running backs and I'll pick my own set from a different team.

We'll add up rushing totals after the season is over and see who has the best rushing stats. Loser eats shit.

Deal?

Pussy.

Avante

Pussy.

So you see that as an actual bet? How about cooling the...'hi I'm a dumb ass kid"....bullshit and make a real bet? 90 days self bannishment, deal?

It will work like this, pay attention....

Frank Gore will easily out gain any Saints back but this is about.....STABLE...of backs not the stud back. I'm saying we will see a more quality season out of the top 4 Saint backs than we will the top 4 Niner backs.

It actually goes like this..

Frank Gore
Pierre Thomas
Mark Ingram
Kendall Hunter
Darren Sproles
Chris Ivory
Brandon Jacobs
LaMichael James

Blake

I made it perfectly clear than when I deal with little shits like you I 'll say anything to fuck with them. When dealing with grown ups who are mature and intelligent I don't lie. Morons like you get no respect from me so whatever I say is fine with me.
