it's mitch's fault, you can't keep selling your draft picks and when drafting, draft terribly and think your team won't be hurt.. They simply lack athleticism.. I have to say, none of that is Browns fault, what is he supposed to do, what options does he have? Kobe chucking- not good.. Kobe passing-he doesn't have a clue how it's done.. All he can do is pass the ball down low to the towers, but with such a horrible backcourt everyone can just shoot the three right in their butt and hack-a-dwight them all night..

tbh Kobe is the only guy in the squad playin' hard. I'm not a fan of Kobe but you have to give him credit to at least trying, the rest of the team is sleeping and seems to be disinterested.

they shouldn't be that bad even w/o DH imho. a defensive big who doesn't quite know how to pass the ball ain't the best fit for the princeton system. i think they'd be better off if they play Pau at C and jamison PF, because in a princeton system you need the C to pass the ball and make some midrange jumpers when he's open. DH still makes good stats himself but it seems more like himself playing monkeyball with the rest of team trying to play princeton tbh.

The Lakers offense is currently ranked 7th in the NBA, while their defense is 25th..
Harlem has been a Mike Brown hater since before it was cool, during a time where Lebron received most of the blame for Cleveland's troubles..however, Brown has been portrayed as the scapegoat on a team with flaws that range wider than coaching..
The Lakers' offense will improve, they will turn the ball over less..a new coach would help, but it would not improve their defense..
Currently, Dwight Howard is the only standout defensive player on the Lakers roster, with World Peace being the only other Laker with positive defensive aggregates..
Kobe is a horrible defensive player, along with Nash, Blake, Jamison and the rest of their rotation players..Gasol and Hill show flashes of decent defense, but not consistently..a new coach would not resolve this issue..

Am I the only one who doesn't think a new coach would help much? Coaching won't fix the fact that the Lakers' roster is extremely shallow and doesn't seem to fit together....
With the Lakers' horrible bench, teams can feel secure with a small lead against the Lakers' starters because they know they can pile it on when the backups come in... that's on Mitch, not Brown...
Lakerfan is fiending for Jerry Sloan now but I don't really see this as Sloan's kind of team, his system seems to rely upon a great PG/PF duo (Stockton/Malone, Deron/Boozer) and so if anything, the Clippers with CP3/Blake would be the better LA team for him...

Lakers problem has been defense. Lakers ignore defense in greater desire to resurrect the show, so they fire Brown and hire D'Antonio. Lakers still lose because they still have a problem with defense and now they do not have a coach who knows anything about defense. Lakers learn to play defense and they will win. It's that simple.

What you are seeing right now isn't even the real Dwight Howard. By the time the playoffs come around, he is going to be beasting on defense!
Pau Gasol is going to come back and be way better than he was. Jamison is going to help us be able to keep his minutes down. He flamed out in the last 2 playoffs because he played too many minutes in the regular season. If we can limit him to about 32-34mpg, he'll be ready to ride.
We just need a decent point guard and we will dominate. This system turned Jeremy Lin into a superstar for a while. They are running the same system in New York still, and look at how much better Ray Felton made them versus last year.
I don't think you guys realize just how much better we are going to be with Steve Nash instead of Chris Duhon.

We have to slow the game down....play more as a power team. We cannot run up and down with these young teams, and shoot all these jumpshots early in the clock. Slow the game down....use bryant and Howard, and clamp down in the half court. If Dantoni wants to run when nash, gasol, & blake gets back...then thats fine. But We have to counter these athletic teams with a power game.

There is so much delusionalness in this place, it is quite comical. You are talking about the same Pop who got backdoor swept last year, lost to an 8th seed the year earlier, and then was swept by the Suns, the year before that. Where was Pop's genius when it mattered?
Also, Phil Jackson barely beat the Hornets in 2011 and was swept by a jump shooting team after that. Call it fatigue, call it whatever, thats how it ended. And Phil's ego cost him the job more then the Lakers taking it pringles. If Phil didn't play the "I'll let you know Monday" bullcrap and just taken the job on Saturday, he would be coaching the Lakers right now.
This is the LA Lakers baby. If the lakers blow it the next year and a half, who cares, they will clear 60 mil off the books and build around a prime big man. So, everyone needs to start paying attention to reality instead of the fantasy. Phil wouldnt have made one ounce a difference and this team turns the ball over like my kids pee wee team every other play and can't stop a freakin nosebleed with a tampon. That's why they are losing. If they needed a 65 year old man with a cane to get them to stop turning the ball over and being lazy on D, well, then they need to turn in their paychecks and retire. These are grown men not children.

2. Our best defensive player ejected with 18 minutes left to play.
3. our second defensive force fouled out.
4. the officials were in "let's make sure the lakers won't win 6 straight" mood.
5. we couldn't close the game with the starting 5 that closed knicks and GS so well (GASTBY, Kobe, MWP, Pau, D12)
6. Our only PG played with foul trouble limiting him to 31 minutes (couldn't close the half and didn't start the 4th)
and yet:
1. we scored 114 points, on the road, on a B2B game
2. we were able to cut the lead couple of times: from 40-32 to 57-54 at halftime, from 73-60 to 91-87 and from 101-87 to 113-106 (metta missed easy fast-break layup to cut it to 5 with 4 minutes to play and it could have been huge)

What angers me the most is how proud CP3 is to be a clipper. Its like being betrayed by a close friend. To add insult to injury, that piece of trash Stern traded him to the same city as us just to rub it in our faces.
No matter how bleak it looks for us, or how good flop city looks, this will ALWAYS be a Laker town. (bleep) flop city, and their pathetic ass franchise. It'd be DISGUSTING to see a Clipper banner next to the Laker ones.

Defense against opposing 1s has been very poor, but I think that has more to do with our pace than with Nash specifically. He isn't a very good defender, but he's not nearly as bad as you make him sound. Fish was pretty awful and we didn't get burned by opposing 1s this bad. The Lakers just need to slow it down. When they slowed it down against the Clippers, they won the quarter.

Gonna shoutout our upstairs brethren here and compliment them for never indulging in the kind of faggotry on display in that thread.
As much as it has killed me to watch this team this season, and as disappointing as it has been, there have been so many factors as to why we've been struggling. I'm not trying to make any excuses, but holy (bleep) has it been one mess of a season. Hopefully once Nash gets back this weekend, or on Christmas, we'll begin to get the team we've all hoped and dreamed of watching since August. I cannot WAIT for this team to start whipping ass. We have a really tough schedule in January, and if we can take most of those games, that'd be so amazing. I can't wait to (bleep) ing laugh at the prick "haters" who have been bull (bleep) ing us since the preseason.
That made me more optimistic since we have our own Michelle Jenekke in Dwight Howard (smiles all the time and has fun)

The Lakers are nearly at the halfway point of the season and still 3 games under .500. They've lost more games than the top 2 seeds in the West combined.
Their "season-changing turnaround" occurred against all of the bottom feeders in the league, and now that they've gone back to real competition, they've lost 3 of 4.
They are behind fucking Minnesota, Portland, and a tanking Houston in the standings!
Will the Lakers turn it around eventually? Probably. LA always has the advantage when it comes to getting talent. But it won't be this season. I can't wait to see the reaction when their "They will pay come April" mentality goes straight into the cesspool.

This isnt a Nash bash thread but a view that isnt had by many around LG. A few weeks back D'Antoni and all kept talking about Nash will solve all ills and he will make this offense tic. Fact is, since his return, we have been an avg team at best and he truly isnt firing like the Nash of old. The main reason in my opinion is that we dont have the players to play with him. He doesnt have the space to wheel and deal because he doesnt have shooters around him. He has scorers in Kobe and MWP and Meeks is not dead eye as we think. He is a very streaky shooter that can get hot.
Having said all that, I ask this question. We have Kobe, D12 and Pau and we choose to tailor everything around a 39 yrs old pg? In a way, I'd say this is the ultimate disrespect to Kobe. One can argue that Nash should defer to Kobe being that Kobe is the champion here not Nash. Kobe is still one of the if the not most feared player in the NBA and yet he is simply reduced to a finisher either by design or by choice. D'Antoni needs to find a balance in letting Kobe facilitate some with Nash on the floor. I think Nash is better suited as a spot up shooter than Kobe is. We should have used Nash as an alternative to Kobe instead of the Kobe being the alternative. When I say alternative, I mean the offensive opportunities they get and what type of plays do those opportunities come from. It appears to be pick and roll or bust where Kobe goes solo.
I know everyone will say that Kobe is still putting up 30 but it isnt about the shots you put up but the impact you have while putting up 30. Right now most of Kobe's points are off catch and shot or iso after Nash pick and roll action. Wherein the defense doesn't have to key and plan heavily on Kobe. Nash gets 10 assists but they aren't game controlling assists nor do they provide a real big impact partly because guys arent finishing the shot, mainly jump shots. Like it or not Kobe ball beats 75% of NBA teams even at this point in his career. Again I am not pointing the finger at Nash alone and I am not advocating we play Kobe ball all yr but we need to find a balance in letting Kobe facilitating and Nash facilitating.
I restate my question, does anyone see the disrespect in making Kobe an "alternative"?

Im STILL tuning in. My wife will ask why, my friends will ask why, people on LG ask why....
Because, thats MY team, and because like a typical "idiot fan", i have hope. Because somehow in what many would call delusional thought, i imagine this Laker team to suffer and fall, only to one day start winning and taking the whole damn league by suprise. For some reason, i see this as our purgatory, our paying of dues. So ill be tuning in, and ill be jumping and fist pumping when Kobe scores and Nash drops a nice pass....And when Artest dribbles off his feet again, or Sacre fouls to give an And 1, ill curse, ill burry my face in my hands, and yell at TV..
but not even then will i turn off the tv.......
