My step-dad watches wrestling all the time and I watch it every now and then. I used to be a huge fan when I was in HS of the WWF which is now WWE.

Tonight on WWE RAW, there was a tag team match of John Cena, Shawn Michaels, and a mystery quest.

Well the mystery guest was the one the only....Hollywood Hulk Hogan!

I went fuckin crazy as Hulk Hogan is my all-time favorite wrestler ever. He is tha man! Good to see him in the ring again. :)

Yea, it was rumored that Hogan would be back next week on Raw to promote it, but WWE pulled a fast one on us and had him there tonight.

I watched it back in 95 or something. I was a fan of that Degeneration X deal they had going with Triple H, Shawn Micheals and that dude that beat China on the Surreal Life.

DX was badd ass. It started out with HBK, HHH, & Chyna. Then it progressed from those 3 and to the group of 5 .Badd Ass Billy Gunn and The Road Dogg - The New Age Outlaws, HHH, Chyna, and X-Pac. That was after HBK lost to Stone Cold at that Wrestlemania when Tyson was the enforcer.

Hogan was a horrible wrestler when he was young, now that he is old, he sux majorly. HBK is too old too. I actually flipped to it and saw that Ric Flair was wrestling. I dont watch WWE anymore, but HBK, Hogan, Flair?? It seems to me that they need to get some young guys in there pronto!!

Old, washed up wrestlers make WWE look even faker (if thats even a word) then it is.

I use to watch it like krazy. But after hogan, the rock, steve austin, goldberg they all left, plus nitro shut down so with no competition the stuff get's boring. I liked the rock's crew nation of domination against Dx. That was awesome.

as far as the fake, it's entertainment, just like when you go to see star wars, it's fake (although some act like it's not :lol), but it's just entertainment.

ALVAREZ6

WWE is the biggest bullshit ever, it's so fake. The least they can do is make their wrestling moves look realistic, you can tell so badly that they don't even hit each other when they punch or kick.
And everything about the WWE is predictable.

I used to be a fan of WWF when I was like 10...

seriously who do you think would win in a real fight?

or who do you think is stronger?

Brock lesnar has so many muscles his neck is really fat but Batista has the hugest shoulders ive ever seen...

I think Lesnar is shorter, therefore I like him in a fight because he has a lower center of gravity. It would be close though.

I mean, how could I pick against Lesnar. Lesnar freaking hit the F5 on the Big Show that one time, and he didn't even struggle to life that 500 pound monster.

Lesnar I think played in the World League this year. I know he tried out for the Vikings last season. Whether or not, he continues is another story all together.

As for someone earlier saying how come they only show the older, more established wrestlers is because the young crop don't take it as seriously as their predicessors did.

You have Chris Jericho who busy now with his band Fozzy, not to mention a "real life" soap opera triangle with Lita (AKA - Amy Dumas) Edge and Matt Hardy. Turns out, Lita starting having an affair with Edge a few months ago. WWE was planning to bring Hardy back to fight against Edge, but changed their mind after all this happened.

The reason for Lita turning "heel" this time was because of the constant heckling of fans, who already knew about the alledged affair between Lita and Edge. They were chanting taunts to both. WWE decided to just turn Lita "heel" and pair her up with her new boyfriend of the moment.

As for Wresting being "fake". Well no shit it's fake. It's no different than watching a fight in TV or in the Movies. The outcomes are pre-determined, but who cares? It's fun to watch.

wrestling is in a low point right now IMO

But can anyone deny the badassness of WCW Bash At the Beach back in mid-early 90s When THE OUTSIDERS scott hall/kevin nash took on three fan favorites (i think macho man, sting, and someone else...argh this is going to bug me)
And the OUTSIDERS had a mystery 3rd partner....and they began the match WITHOUT their 3rd partner, and were holding their own until the good guys numbers started pounding on the OUTSIDERS...then the OUTSIDERS start bringing the pain and someone gets razor's edged....things look bleak for the good guys....

Then hulk hogan, dressed in yellow and red comes storming to the ring, to the fans delight, although the commentators keep asking 'what side is he on what side is he on' and he jumps in the ring and scares off kevin nash and scott hall....then totally turns on the good guys and the fans get PISSED

So was the birth of the NWO and another golden age in wrestling history...the bad guys who were fan favorites era began and this also led into the D-X/Stone Cold era of WWF

It was around this time i prayed and hoped for the two franchises to merge, but it wasnt until like 7 years later that WWF finally bought out WCW, and by then it was too late, the NWO was an old joke, and WWF was depending largely on the Rock who had left for movies, an injured stone cold, and thus resorted to that stupid idea of splitting rosters and bringing back older guys yet again (hogan, etc)

E20

Hall and Nash are on the TNA Impact Wresting, which is run by Jeff Jarrett and his Dad. But I remember when Hogan turned heel though. Sting has basically quit wresting. WWE tried like crazy to lure Sting over there after the WCW folded up, but he said no. Periodically, he shows up on TNA Wrestling. I miss his old persona instead of that "Crow" rip off he started right after Hogan turned heel.

That will be about five years too late. It's a shame WWE couldn't promote Goldberg like they could've. Imagine a Batista/Goldberg match.

3rdCoast
06-29-2005, 06:57 PM
Goldberg was only there for that 1 year. He was too pricy for WWE from what I have read. He was good and Goldberg vs. Batista would be worth the $35 for a ppv, I think. I know I would buy it. I didn't order Vengeance last week, although I wish I would have. I understand that the Hell In A Cell with HHH vs. Batista was a classic.

pooh
06-29-2005, 07:04 PM
Goldberg didn't go to the WWE right away because he still was under a contract with WCW and it prohibitted him from wresting at the time. When he did come over, he was first presented as a heel, something which he wasn't thrilled about. He left due a conflict of interest and also because he didn't like the WWE's racy images and storylines. Right now, he's doing a show on History Channel called "Automaniac".

It's like Brett Hart said. He said (to paraphrase), it used to be that we faked it, and everyone thought it was real. Now it's real, and everyone thinks it's fake.

I met DDP a while back when Karl Malone tried wrestling back in 1998. After seeing him holding his back all night after a few chair shots from Dennis Rodman, you can't tell me (or him) those moves aren't painful. Scripted? Sure. Painful? Absolutely.

September 22, 2004 will go down as a dark day in wrestling as another one of the truly good guys was taken away too early. Despite whatever character he portrayed throughout his 18-year career, no one ever heard a bad thing being said about Ray Traylor aka "The Big Boss Man". During his final run in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Traylor spent a considerable amount of his free time working with many charities.
