The Spurs say Sam Presti is already at the same level, so it won't be him. Perhaps they bump up Monty Williams or Joe Prunty or someone like that.

If they go out and look for someone, I'm thinking it will be a former player. Someone who wants to get into the business. Will Perdue, Chuck Person, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey and Kevin Willis come to mind.

Who else do you think the Spurs will consider?

I think Joe Prunty will probably go to the Mavs as one of Avery's assistants.

I'll go with Perdue.

Joe Prunty is going to the Mavs. They interviewed Joe on the 9 O'Clock News tonight. I'm sure they knew before anybody else because Laura Green is his lovely wife.

I wonder if Laura will move to Dallas or stay here.

Chuck Person is the new head assistant for the Pacers, replacing Mike Brown.

Sam Presti will be GM long before Lance Blanks.

Terry Porter might be the Head Coach for the Trailblazers. Kevin Willis is retired now?

Who Do You Think Replaces Danny Ferry?

Steve Kerr. :) He'd have to sell his Suns' shares, if he still has them.

You never know about the Spurs...it could be someone we'd never think of. Whoever it is won't be just a figure-head and there may even be a realignment in management or a combining of roles to take advantage of talent that makes the most sense.

My guess is Lance Blanks - Not sure how good he'll be but anybody would look good under RC and Pop :lol

As far as I am concerned it is a dummy job in the current spurs org.

Lance Blanks is already a senior scout for the Spurs; so he might move up to this position. And Ferry's old job is anything but a dummy job. That person is highly involved in scouting prospects, recruiting free agents, and decision making.

While we are on it, who could be a possible replacement for Joe Prunty (i.e., if he goes) ? Some ex-head coach looking out for a job or a young gun?

Hmmm... I'd imagine that Prunty's job will probably go to a younger new scout. But who knows. Prunty moved up through the organization. He was doing the videotape job a few years back.

Lance Blanks
Steve Kerr
Sean Elliott

Well if you believe this:

Spurs general manager R.C. Buford said he probably won't hire a new director of basketball operations until after the draft and free-agent signing period are completed. Sam Presti, the Spurs' director of player personnel, was already considered on equal level with Ferry, so the team is expected to fill the position with an outside hire.

Then it doesn't seem like they are considering Blanks.

Didn't Bruce already say that Brent Barry was the "new and improved Danny Ferry"?

Is P.J. going anywhere? NY and Minnesota are still open and if Brown steps down Detroit will be opening up.

The NY Head Coach job is still a possibility. Minnesota is not. They hired former Sonics Assistant Dwane Casey to run the club

Of the candidates mentioned Will Perdue seems like the only man on the list tall enough, pasty enough, slow enough, and thuggish enough to properly replace Danny Ferry.

Prunty moved up through the organization. He was doing the videotape job a few years back.

That video coordinator job is a real stepping stone in this organization. Budenholzer was the Spurs video coordinator for 2 years before becoming an assistant coach.
