Question about routers and Xbox

I have and older Xbox 360. Not wanting to drop $50 on an official Xbox wireless adapter, think Xbox wont read 3rd party adapter?, can I daisy chain another wireless router to the one in my living room to connect it to the Xbox via lan?

I've got a extra cheap $30 belkin new in box.

you can set up the other router as an extender/repeater I believe.
