Well we could certainly use another shooter. And what's better than a 40 year old wing trying to guard all the athletic 2's in the league? But seriously, if this happens is there any shot the Spurs take a look? I doubt it, but you never know.

EDIT* - I, for one, think we should stay away. But, I wouldn't be surprised if Pop brought him in for a work out just to see where he's at, especially with all the injuries lately. I can't imagine how bad he is defensively though..

I thought Fin burnt the Spurs bridge by requested a trade to the Celtics / a "contender"?

It was probably for Pop's good that he requested that trade. Pop was struggling to find good rotations that season and had even started Finley at power forward. With Finley gone it made Pop's job easier because he didn't have to come up with stupid lineups just to get him on the floor.

This is just absolutely glorious news!! :pop: n Finley possibly reuniting again. :married:

Explains in part why Pop n Bonner have been having relationship issues.

How's a 40 y/o Finley any better than Bonner? The guy constantly brickedwide open shots. At the age he's at now (and lack of NBA playing), he's going to be worse at everything than Bonner is.

At least Bonner can hit wide open threes.

Big NO to Finley on the Spurs. Good for him to try a comeback, but I don't want him in SA. Dude was washed up years ago. Can't imagine how bad he is now. Don't want to.

Finley would be a good signing. The Spurs need a small forward and he has the corporate knowledge and appropriate fear to blossom in this system. Not to mention how over himself he is right now considering he's been out of the game for two years. Sign him up!

:lol Finley sucked a half decade ago. He turned his back on the Spurs after Pop gifted him minutes for three straight seasons. GTFO of here with this thread. Not funny. No. Hell no. Hell. No.

Because, the Thunder need Veteran leadership.

I forget this dude played with us sometimes, he was supposed to be such a marquee signing in 2006. I guess he did average like 10ppg his first two seasons but after 2007 he was absolute garbage and he turned his back on our team to play on a "contender." Fuck him

:pop: " Mike Finley will be a great teammate to the young players. He is the consummate professional and he will immediately start in front of Danny Green. He can also take Tiago's place and give us more versatility when other teams play certain lineups. This is a no-brainer."

This.

Not sure why he's doing this. It can't be money, because he STILL will be getting a $5m paycheck from Cuban for the next THREE seasons, including this one. His contract had a 10 year payout if he were waived, and he was amnestied in 2005.

He's the reason Manu was a sixth man after 2005. He was garbage of the bench so Pop in his usual reverse thinking had to start him.

I would sign him to some ten day deals and then when Kawhi or Jax comes back we that are cutting him in order to be contenders.

Yes, the first two seasons (Especially the first) he was still able to play some, he was servicable and could hit some timely shots. After those two years HELL NO! He could hardly even move out there it seemed and was only a long jump shooter at BEST! I liked him the first two years some, after that FORGET IT. Granted this is way back to 07! THIS IS NOW! HE IS TEN TIMES WORSE.

Wish we kept Jackson in '04. Instead we brought in Hedo, the guy who was choking for the Spurs long before Bonner. And Finley - well I remember more bad games from him than good ones.

This is the moron who signed Finley to that last two-year deal when he was already completely and totally done. In my opinion, Finley is a big reason why the Spurs didn't win a title after 2007.

Pop's affinity for him was well chrnicled, but it never, EVER made any sense.

Hey like I said before atleast he has a few playoff games (The Mavs series he hit timely shots and had some crazy dunks) where he hit some big shots! Denver he hit what 8 threes in a key game? I won't rank him nearly as bad as Bonner, especially in the playoffs or crunch time. I do not hate Fins at all, but his last few years boy he could not drive anymore nor play any D.

He could not play a Lick at all in 08 and beyond, he should just realize he is done. He has been done since 06 IMO, had some moments in 07 but man 06 was his last servicable year IMO as possibly a key role player.

Oh I appreciate some of the things he did here, but I can't stand by a player who complained about not getting playing time when he got all the unnecessary minutes he did the previous seasons. That pretty much put him at the top of my list. Oh, and the fact that Pop chose him over Bruce Bowen.

OH LORD CHOSING him over BOWEN, that there is a sin! I agree on that part! I think Bowen had a few more years LEFT ON D! I could have sworn Bowen got swung out THOUGH FOR RICHARD! I still remember that trade today! I think you should hate him the most there. Bowen could have helped a year or so more though IMO, atleast as much AS DICK did here lol.

I see in 07 playoffs he made 44-105 (Lead the playoffs) threes he attempted, you tell me when Bonner makes more than 15 or so in a postseason then we can talk about him being nearly as hated as he is lol. I agree with what you said though.

He should simply retire enjoy the money he stole from Cuban.

Indeed. Last paycheck he got from Cubes was 2007-2008, when he got paid 18.5 million to help the Spurs defend their championship. :lmao

He was one of the best shooters the championship Spurs ever had, and that's saying something, as Kerr, Horry, Ellie, Elliott, Bowen, Barry, Jack and Manu play/played for the Spurs. But after '07 his defense and rebounding where terrible, he also wasn't able to do anything from the bench. He can't be serious about the comeback.

I know that the max contract AK-47 signed with the Jazz had differed payments trough several years, its possible that the Mavs had Finleys contract structured in a similar fashion.

Yes as I posted he hit 44 threes during that 07 title run in the playoffs! Over 40% as well! Thats very good. I agree on the rest as well. He did his part though in 06 and 07, can't blame him at all he hit some big shots.

I'd take Fin over Wilk or James Anderson as the 15th, tbh.

Brent couldn't move his feet on D, either. I saw an 82-year-old shoot 100 free throws in a row, once. The elderly just shoot better, and if he can jog and take the min, he's regular season gold.

None of that was in blue.

Ironic, considering Cuban is still paying off his last contract. Fin was still owed $51M in 2005 and it was payable over 10 years according to the buyout terms in his contract, meaning Cuban will be paying him through 2014-2015. :lol
