they lost a few close games this season n they could've been easily 8-2 now as opposed to 4-6. fisher hits big shots and will definitely help them wrap up those games instead, i think that's their main reason to sign him imho

This isn't really a bad signing if you think about it. If you had your hopes that the Mavs were going to do anything more than get promptly escorted out of the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed in the first round, this year is already a lost cause. I don't know that Dirk coming back gets them the 7 or 8 seed. It's probably better to miss the playoffs, get a lottery pick and use the cap space to sign a star. This signing is more about salvaging the Collison trade. Whatever else you may say about how little game Fisher has left, the dude is a professional. I'm guessing they're hoping his practice and preparation habits will rub off on DC.
