SportsLine - The Cavaliers picked up $2.1 million in salary-cap space Tuesday by trading swingman Jiri Welsch to the Milwaukee Bucks for a second round pick in 2006.

The Cavaliers acquired Welsch from the Boston Celtics in late February for a 2007 first-round pick. Welsch struggled after joining the Cavaliers and didn't fit into the future plans. The Cavaliers will have slightly more than $28 million with the move

Good trade by Ferry. Welsch is a scrub.

Ferry should have fun with that cap space.

Danny Ferry is going to have a field day with $28M in cap room. I know they have to sign Ilgauskas, but damn that's a lot of money.

Welsch is not so bad he is former player of Union Olimpija Ljubljana. He is good.

He was Beno's teammate, right? In the NBA, Welsch has a rep of a shooter that can't shoot :lol

I smell another blockbuster deal coming. I think somebody is going to dump Ira Newble around the first week in July

If I'm Ferry, the only players that are safe are Lebron and Varejao. Other than that, I'd get rid of everybody. Maybe keep Zydrunas if he doesn't break the bank. Maybe check to see if Luke Jackson will ever be a decent player.

I read in some Slovenian magazin that Zydrunas was with Jasikevicius in London in this days and that Jasikevicius will go this year 100% to NBA. He say that he want to go in NBA.

I will see all this guys in thursday when they will be in tivoli. I have a tickets and rasho and beno will also be there :smokin :smokin

....wouldn't it be something if Ferry actually turned around the Cavs?

I mean, I know this is talking about slim pickin's here, but think about it....

Say the Cavaliers make a couple nice offseason acquisitions (they have the money for it, even moreso now) with Ferry at the reigns, and Lebron actually makes it to...say, the Eastern Conference Finals next season, or even further.

I think even San Antonians would be surprised, because Ferry probably never got his due for his place in the Spurs front office. But it would still be amusing to see Danny get his. :lol

Damn 28 million.

Let's see...

Zydrunas 10 mil
Bobby Simmons 8 mil
Earl Watson 4 mil
Morris Peterson 6 mil

And they're set.

You're a dork, ducks.

YOu don't think James is going to have a shitload of input on who they pick up this summer? Think

I thought Cleveland might be a candidate to pick up Rasho for capspace, but Ferry is pretty tight with Z so they should be able to work out a deal.

Is Jeff McGinnis the Cavs starting point? I wonder if Ferry replaces him.

I think Ferry is too old and tall for that.

I always thought Jiri Welsch would become the next Larry Bird if given the proper motivation. I can't they gave him away. He will shock them next year.

Maybe the Spurs could get him for Bowen.
