As the thread title asks, what is your definition of a ball hog?

Does it matter if the person makes their shots or not, for example are you a ball hog even if you make all of your shots, or are you only a ball hog if you miss them all?

Ball hog means you don't pass to somebody else when they're open. Has nothing to do with whether you're making your shots or not.

I played on a team one time with this guy that averaged something like 45 points a night on a team that only averaged probably 85 total.

He probably shot 50% from the floor or better most nights, so you couldn't call him a ball hog in the sense that he shot and missed all the time.

But he shot so often that the rest of the team would quit moving and would fall asleep on offense. The other guys would get bored most of the time knowing that as soon as "the black hole" got the ball it would disappear forever.

He got suspended late in the season and our team had to finish the year without him. People thought our average team was only going to get worse without him, but I think we won 4 of those last 6 games after being slightly below .500 most of the year, and beating a couple of teams that previously had blown us out. No one person averaged more than 16 a game the rest of the way, and everyone had a great time.

So. . .moral of the story. . .a ball hog is someone who shoots too much to the detriment of his team. . .make 'em or not.

Interesting input. I played on a team with a guy earlier today that shot the ball just about every damn time he got it, and to his credit he was damn good, the best on the court and he shot a pretty damn good percentage I'm sure but they guy wouldn't pass the ball for shit.

What really surprised me is that the other guys didn't seem to care because we almost won, honestly I wouldn't have felt too great about winning because I wouldn't have won, he would have.

Then another guy that tried to defend him said another guy was a ball hog because he missed but that this guy wasn't because he made them.

I certainly like when you have a good player that can score a good ammount and can be the reason you win, but this guy was just too much, I might as well have been sitting on the sidelines, he didn't pass me the ball once.

I'm just out there trying to get in shape and have a little fun, but I should have just gone for a jog, I would have taken the same ammount of shots anyhow.

A dick face that doesn't want to help the team and doesn't pass to open players, doesn't try to involve other guys, plays only for himself, not for his team.

a ball hog is someone who never looks for his teammates and thinks every shot is his

I hate ball hogs as much as shot hogs.

I played with a PG for a few years, who was my friend, that probably only took about 8-10 shots in 40 minutes, but just hogged the ball continuously. That is probably worse than someone who shoots 35 times in 40 minutes.

Jordan in his early years. You can't get 69 pts. against the Celts without hogging the ball.

What if everyone sucks big dick and he is the best on the team and everytime you try not to hog the ball and pass it they either turn it over or do some gay shit.
