View Full Version : Lakers: Dwightmare Part II: Dwight still wants to play for the Nets

Here we go again? Not likely. The Nets (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/brooklyn-nets) made their choice last summer and left Dwight Howard (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/21602/dwight-howard) in Orlando. They moved on to Joe Johnson (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/21564/joe-johnson), Brook Lopez (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/35056/brook-lopez), etc., etc. But with the Lakers (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/los-angeles-lakers) disappointing (to be kind!), there are rumors out there that Howard is not set on signing with L.A.
Howard himself indicated that earlier in the week when John Denton, the Magic's (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/orlando-magic) in-house beat reporter, spoke with him (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=AtJaW.kaOGY_6oBfqlsXIyAmYsp_;_ylu=X3oDMTFlZmU 2MnB1BG1pdANCbG9nIEJvZHkEcG9zAzEzBHNlYwNNZWRpYUJsb 2dCb2R5QXNzZW1ibHk-;_ylg=X3oDMTM2bnU2Z2xzBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRw c3RhaWQDODBlYzNkNjgtZTU0ZC0zNzg3LTg5YTktMTUzZDlmOW ZmZThiBHBzdGNhdANuYmF8YmFsbGRvbi0zOS10bGllBHB0A3N0 b3J5cGFnZQ--;_ylv=0/SIG=13uun614u/EXP=1356024524/**http%3A//www.nba.com/magic/news/denton-dwight-speaks-out-about-time-orlando-and-reasons-wanting-leave-part-2). Asked what his goal is, he said it's always been a championship. "So if I have to play on another team or do whatever I have to do to get one, that's my goal. This is my passion, so I'll continue to fight."
Now, in a chat, (http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/46313/nba-insider-chad-ford) ESPN's Chad Ford suggests that Howard, who famously left the Nets at the altar back in March, still wants to play for them. "He's made that clear," notes Ford, without letting readers know his sourcing.

So hard to predict what Dwight Howard is going to do. He seemingly changed his mind every week last season. LA is just a great market for him. He's going to get healthier. The keys to this team will be his soon. He still would prefer Brooklyn. He's made that clear.

As much as I dislike the lakers, I dont want to deal with another season/offseason of Dwight rumors/speculation/news coverage.

I'd rather Brett Favre talk about coming out of retirement..... or Kobe rape another innocent white woman in Colorado.

The thought of him taking less is idiotic. He showed he wouldn't take less in Orlando when he waived the option, so no way he takes less when the default is LA, where the front office (excluding Buss) has above room temperature IQ. Bible Kemp is there for good unless the snitch deems him to be taking away too many of his shots.

I doubt it. I think Orlando's GM explained the whole situation about him getting paid more with Bird Rights by not opting out, and Bible Kemp nodded, said 'I like money', and agreed.

son of a bitch will stay in LA where he's gonna get paid more then he would possibly get anywhere else. if he's really poised to leave he's gonna demand being traded rather than leave as a free agent imho

Why anyone would want this retard on their team is beyond me. He's like a damn 13 year old girl who can't decide which boyfriend she likes best. Seriously, Dwight, you're not winning shit unless you learn to quit the juvenile BS and just go play basketball. What a head case.

How could they possibly acquire him? Isn't Brooklyn way over the cap? Isn't their only option a S'n'T? And aren't S'n'Ts harder to execute under the new CBA, assuming the Lakers would even cooperate in sending him to another team?

he can't go to the nets as long as the lakers don't want him there... maybe he can go to free agency, get signed by some team under the cap, gets traded to the nets for perhaps brook lopez or something.. otherwise i don't see a scenario... he'd be better off just signing for the spurs tbh

he ain't leave as a free agent because that would mean a huge loss of $, he's gonna re-sign with the lakers so that he gets the biggest $ possible which's gonna important to him knowing his back problem may jeopardize his career anytime. and you can't sign someone from free agency and trade him right away, you need to wait till dec. 15 or 3 months after the contract signed, whichever is later imho
