its not like the pick is gonna be #1 or anything close tbh. lakers will finish at least 8-10 even if they don't make playoffs n theres no much difference between a marginal lottery pick and a common first rounder

Cavs have the right to swap first rounders with Lakers (their own, the Heats and the Kings). If Lakers 2013 first rounder is in lottery, pick is extinguished. (LeBron James trade 07-09-10 (http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/trade_100710.html))

Phoenix receives the Lakers' 2013 first-round pick (least favorable of picks sent to them for theirs from Cleveland) (Steve Nash trade 07-11-12 (http://www.nba.com/lakers/releases/120711lakers-acquire-steve-nash))

which means no, it is not protected(i think).

Yeah, that's exactly what happened to that other big market team Chicago.

also, if I'm not mistaken, tha chances of getting the n1 pick grow higher the more time passed since the last n1 pick.

The short answer is that the pick is lottery protected for the 2013 draft.

2013 draft is shit; would be funny to see the Lakers in the lottery.

Son, the last time the Lakers were in the lottery they got a center with bad knees that they flipped for a center who can't shoot.
