I really don't know much. I'm pretty certain he played with Jimmy Page on some iteration of Led Zeppelin. Possibly the thing with David Coverdale. Or maybe during that short thing with Page and Plant. I remember thinking who the hell is that guy. But the name sticks with me. But apparently, he was relatively well know and important in the world music scene. I see a picture of him with the Beatles.

I stumbled across the story when I was reading about the North Korea missile launch. And the fact that I started a Led Zeppelin thread earlier made me think I was supposed to post it.

turns out Ravi Shankar is the father of Norah Jones

George Harrison learned sitar from him, and the rest of the Beatles (and many others) were also influenced by his sitar work.
