PHILADELPHIA -- Andrew Bynum played seven seasons with Kobe Bryant as his teammate before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers this summer. He shared success with his fellow prep-to-pros product, making three NBA Finals, winning two championships and even both being named All-Stars last season.

But by the end of his time in L.A., Bynum felt that Bryant's ball-dominant ways hurt his development as one of the league's best centers.

"I thought it really helped me a lot obviously at first, because he draws so much attention it's hard for guys to double team and key on you, so it helped me tremendously," Bynum told a group of L.A. reporters before the Lakers played the Sixers on Sunday. "Later, I felt I was able to get the ball more and do more things with the ball, so I could definitely see how it could stunt growth."

Seeing the same happen with Howard, at the moment. Although, part of that blame is on D'Antoni's system.

Kobe Bryant does not make other players better.

Cop out by Bynum to be honest, probably true but did he say it at all last year. Pretty easy to sit back and say it now

Saying this while he was still a Laker would have gone over like a lead balloon in that locker room, tbh....

“I think Dwight’s a great player, but he’s going to have to get accustomed to playing with Kobe [Bryant], obviously, and not touching the ball every single play,” Bynum said.

:lmao

Kobe Bryant does not make other players better.

Part of that blame is also on Bible Kemp for being a monkeyballer instead of having a legit back to basket game like Bynum.

The only time Kobe stunted that crybaby's growth is when he fell on his knee.

What kills me is Laker fans and their 180 degree feelings about Bynum. This is a prime example, glass knees now, better than Shaq a year ago.

Cool hyperbole, Johnny. Have any evidence of Lakerfan saying that here?

Blame for what ? He could be there on one year rent. Check how it is to play with league`s biggest ballhog and then move on.

If he's sad because he's not getting touches, I blame him. That was how the conversation was going tbh

Kobe Officially Responds To Bynum

:lol my nigga!

The Black Mamba agrees with Andrew Bynum’s assessment that his presence stunted the growth of seven foot centre in the later part of his Los Angeles Lakers stint.

Speaking to Los Angeles based group of reporters before his new team, the Philadelphia 76ers, took on his old one, Andrew Bynum created quite a splash by saying that the presence of Kobe Bryant halted his growth as a complete player.

Bryant who has been on song this season, leading the league in scoring by some distance, ended the game with 34 points to orchestrate a 111-98 win, and when asked about his take on the comments of his former team mate, the Black Mamba surprisingly agreed with the assessment.

"For sure, because when you're playing with me you obviously have to sacrifice something," Bryant said. "Same thing with me and Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal). You kind of off-set each other to a certain extent. So, I mean, that's true."

Bryant, by far the most over-hyped and over-ranked superstar in NBA history [cannot lead &*%# without Gasol or Shaq] with a rare moment of insight.

it is obvious to everyone that kobe's "kobe eats first" mindset was pissing bynum off. dwight howard will eventually figure out the same thing and that he missed his chance to assert dominance at the beginning of the season. it will be everyone's wet dream for howard to get fed up with kobe and leave the lakers after this season.

Bynum sees "how it could stunt growth" but didn't actually say he thought it stunted his growth, tbh. That said, Bynum's really blossomed in Philly.
