View Full Version : Injury Update: Ginobili, Leonard and Jackson all OUT (Update: Pop lied, Jack is back)

Pop says all three players are out tonight. He strongly hinted that Leonard and Jackson will also miss tomorrow night's game against the Nuggets.

I'm not sure a win in OKC without Ginobili, Jackson or Leonard is even possible unless Durant forgets he has a game today :depressed

Non issue.

Anderson could have led the spurs B unit past Lebron's Heat if Pop didn't bench him to end the game, he will do the same with Durant's OKC if he gets the opportunity tbh.

Too many injuries, fortunately its early in the season.

Just tank it. Being short handed on a back to back, its better to try to get the win tomorrow. Perhaps the bench can pull another Miami.

Yeah I don't see us winning either game without ALL 3 of those guys now. We had to at least have one of them. We can't expect guys like Mills, Anderson, and Nando to play 15-20 minutes a game and win. I don't like that Pop said lack of practice time is what's keeping Kawhi and Jack sidelined. If they're ready..throw them out there! :td

We manage to win games despite playing Danny Green big minutes, so playing an upgrade like Anderson can't hurt our chances tbh.

I hope Westbrick goes into chucking mode tonight. THAT would give the Spurs a chance a win tonight....

Old crusty Pop would have used tonight's game to test which part of Stern's explanation for the Miami fine is most significant -- is it the fact that it's early in the season? is it the fact that it was the Spurs' only trip into Miami in the regular season? is it that the Spurs didn't report their plan?

Won't happen tonight.

It is remarkable how many times in the early part of this season, the Spurs have played a road game that comes either 1 day off or as the second night of a back-to-back against a team that is at home and has at least two days of rest.

3 days rest at home after the Denver game and time to practice. I expect to see them both on the 21st v. the Pelicans, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Jack play in Denver.

I'm fine with them sitting out tonight's game. But it's particularly concerning, esp Kawhi, that they're likely out tomorrow as well. You'd think Pop would want to test out Kawhi tomorrow considering they don't play again until Friday.

Might as well sit TP/Tim tonight as well and try to win tomorrow IMO unless Pop is fine with losing both of these games.

I'll only get concerned about Leonard if he doesn't play on Friday. Even if he's been medically cleared, it makes perfect sense to me to see how performs, and recovers, from a full team practice before using him in a game.

Diaw really has to bring it though, he can't half ass it like he has in other games lately. If he really gets up in Durants face and is physical with him I think we can limit him, but if he starts falling asleep on plays and giving Durant space it will be game over.

BTW,Lebron shoots a higher percentage similar to T.P he cut the 3pt shot out of his game and focused on torching defenders inside the arc. Lebron is a better player and actually was the only one really playing well doing that Miami game. Durant could have a tough time finishing at the rim if Duncan & Tiago start together.

Hopefully, The Spurs have an extremely attractive and seductive woman on the payroll who just happened to bump into Kevin as he was leaving his favorite fastfood joint after last night's practice. She, also, just happens to be wearing a UT tank-top, some burnt orange chaps, and little else. They get to chatting and find they have so much in common that they decide to go for a 'coffee or something?' Finally, Kevin calls his Mom and says "Mom I'm going to do a sleepover with one of my pals tonight, so don't worry about me...love you too!"...............(sounds of chains against metal as Kevin wakes to find himself handcuffed to a bedpost in a room he doesn't recognize) .....:sucker

I'm not surprised, I think Pop is holding out Kawhi/Jack because OKC and Denver are both really young run n gun athletic teams, both guys are coming off a month of rest. I'm sure Pop doesn't want them to over exert themselves and wind up getting hurt again, it's better to bring them back against a scrub team.

Manu improving: Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said there is a chance guard Manu Ginobili, who missed Monday’s game with a thigh bruise, could return tonight in Denver.

“He felt better today,” Popovich said. “It was a little looser. We’ll see how he feels.”

Leonard needs practice: Kawhi Leonard missed his 17th game with left quadriceps tendinitis. The biggest impediment to getting the 21-year-old small forward back on the floor, Popovich said, has been a lack of practice time.

Sounds like they're both basically healthy. Pop will probably hold Kawhi out as a precaution and give Manu a few minutes to give the finger to Nuggets fans.
