Good movie. I was disappointed at the ending. But overall a great movie. I never read the book, so I dunno if it's actually true to it.

The money you spent on the ticket was money you could have sent to Jim.

Anyhow, the ending was true to the book. They put a new spin on the movie but they kept a very 50s feel to it. I assume that was because of the origional. All in all it was pretty cool.

I had never read the book so I really didn't know what it was about. I have to say that is some crazy shit! But I enjoyed it immensely, especially since I didn't have to pay and I got to drink free "white" water!

I absolutely love Dakota Fanning, she's a very talented little girl. And Tim Robbins can definitely play the crazed freak. Tom Cruise was great as well. Although I don't think this one was better than Batman Begins, it's definitely a great summer movie.

If there was no explanation as to what happened at the end then I would have been pissed. I was half expecting a sucky ending but it was pretty good. The movie rocked.. but how were people using their camcorders if the lightning messed up all electronics?

but silverado was fuckin packed. jeez...and on a wednesday night?

i was thinking, all this for a tom cruise flick? i'll wait til bargain matinee...hell it's a three day weekend anyway....

tom is picking out his ladies younger and younger these days, the clock is ticking katie...can you say dakota cruise?

does the little girl being terrified throughout play on the nerves like Ratliff noted? did the thought, just kill the little bitch already, cross the mind? just curious...thanks! :smokin

all i know is get yourself a plymouth van and some bacteria you can survive anything.

this is the funniest thing, people in the theater saying "omg"; thats terrible"; & moans in the audience when people are being zapped. hilarious. this isnt a reinactment of an actual event. lmao.

And fuck, have you told her your plan to mooch of of her? Have you told her your history of paying people back? Why don't you have her come on this board and read about you a bit and then see how much she wants to be with you.

Please, I could have been a real jackass to her, but there's no reason to make fun of the girl. I figure she has it bad enough having to pay for you and put up with you all the time.

Okay, I've never really believed in Aliens, or UFO's or whatever but this movie spooked me! If they do exist, I hope I never live to see anything like that ever happen. Thats just nuts. I did like it alot. I've never read the book either but my mom also compared it to Independence Day when she saw it. I didn't think it did so much. I thought it was a really good movie. Two things:

Are we really just that stupid by nature? Its funny seeing people just standing around waiting to see whats gonna vaporize them next. Hello..RUN!

What bacteria??? I guess I missed the connection :( I tend to do that sometimes.

As far as theaters, I went to Silverado tonight and it was packed! Couldn't even find a parking space and the movie was sold out so I had to go to Cielo Vista. But I'd choose Silverado over any other theater even with the indoor high school. At least they have a decent student discount.

If anyone wants to see a good movie check out Kung Fu Hustle at the local discount theaters. It's an import subtitled movie with a funny script and great fight scenes. I took my two daughters (12 & 14) to see it at the Cielo Vista a coupla months ago when it was a first run and they've been asking to see it again since then.

It's probably better than half the regurgitated celluoid Hollywood is trying to sell to the droned 18 year old masses right now.

I saw it on Friday and was impressed.

War of the Worlds makes Independence Day look like Shrek. The special effects were awesome, there were entire cities under attack, US citizens were close to rioting, the indestructible razed to the ground, explosions, fires and general mayhem all around, but there was a good family story that seemed to keep you interested in that while all hell was breaking loose all around it.

This is a movie that can not be seen and appreciated on video....go see it on the big screen.

the effects were pretty good. the girl screaming was only irritating at the beginning...and suprise suprise, the one thing i thought i'd hate, tom cruise...i actually felt for the character as he had to put up with those pain in the ass kids...good flick though.

I love how the aliens are so intelligent and have done their homework so well that they could plan the attack a million years in advance, yet are too stupid to understand the concept of infection by microorganisms.

That has a very "look how much we brilliant humans have discovered here at the turn of the 20th century" feel to it.

It's a bad loophole, but hey at least it's not as big as alien spaceships running Windows OS in Independence Day. That's the single dumbest thing in a movie ever.

We finally saw this last night....I loved it. :)

Stupid moment....all of the power is out, none of the cars work...none of the cell phones work. Why, in the scene where they first started attacking, was this guy in the crowd's video camera working? And it wasn't a little slip, either...when he got annihilated and it fell to the ground, they even panned down to it's view finder. WTF? :lol

dude... they died from bacteria...
wtf
are their immune system that bad.....
they should have foreseen what kind of stuff lies on earth right before they attack... not a million years after...

they should have taken some shots before shooting through lightning :)

Go to imdb.com and look up the movie and read the goofs....you'll find this little tidbit...

Incorrectly regarded as goofs: It's a special Hollywood EMP that disables only the electronic equipment that the filmmakers want it to

The movie looked really good and had an ok plot. There were lots of things that should have been explained that were totally left out. Like as in what the hell was that viney weed shit that was growing all over the place for? What were the aliens doing "farming" it? I think some things were just added to increase the fear factor. I'm it's a nice gruesome bit to have the alien walkers sucking the blood out of people and then spraying their "crops" with it. But what was the purpose? It was just skipped over. I say 7/10 rating.
