View Full Version : Questions about online gun sales, no fuzzy's allowed.
So I've been watching an AR-15 I own being sold on gunbroker.com for more than double what I paid for mine, and I've done numerous upgrades to mine on top of that. It looks like I can turn a 700 dollar gun for around 1,800.
Should I sell now and buy another once the panic dies down? How long will the panic last? Should I hold onto it? My feelings are that I can make a profit now and buy again later, and get a much better gun. Part of me is nervous though and wants to hold on to what I've got. I'm torn.
Sell now. You can buy two later.

hi there!
This is my first call out in thread title.
Yay!
You can buy a Sako Finnlight with a mid to high end scope for 2K. Just the rifle for 1400. No way a stamped out receiver on that platform is worth 1800.00. It's a bubble and will burst very soon.
How long do you think before the prices drop again? I'm waiting on a bolt carrier group to complete another build, and if I put this gun up for sale I will be down a gun due to no BCG. With the profit I could easily buy another BCG but I'm not willing to spend 300 at this point for a BCG.

Do it, especial if you have more than one.
I think you can get more than 1800. There's a several month backlog on even the simplest parts. People are buying everything they can get their hands on. I'd post it for 2500.00 and let it ride.
I mean, someone puts up an order of 1K bolt carrier groups, what are you going to do? He's first. Not many shops can swing that kind of a purchase and still handle the single orders so though they may take your order, they will likely cancel shortly afterward and raise the price to 500.
The may drop again in a couple of months, but right now you have a 2.5 - 3x normal price window to move. Someone will take it, fuck the extra money, they've been told no by too many other dealers backlogged.

Don't think it will fetch that much, it's just a s&w m&p 15 sport with low pro gas block installed, 12" free float rail, VFG, and a bushnell red dot. It was first AR, and I don't use it much anymore. But having to put a BCG in it and leaving another one without a BCG does not sit well with me.
Check out subguns.com, check out all the complaints about not being able to get guns or parts, about gun shops raising prices suddenly and shutting down orders due to backlogs. You're on the upswing of the bubble, you have nothing to lose by asking premium. Right now you're not sure if you even want to sell. It's not often a person has opportunity to be in the drivers seat on these things, and the next mass shooting might be awhile.
A friend bought a Colt M16 for 3K several years back. It's worth 22K now. Better than gold prices.
DMC, you got an extra BCG sitting around you want to sell me? Or send it to me for free and we can work out a deal on my final sale price of said gun? :lol
Not sure I would even part with one if I had it tbh. Put it up minus the BCG. Someone will take it off your hands.

Was thinking about that. There are a bunch of fools sitting on 20+ bcg's right now
No kidding. There's a guy sitting on 5 thousand registered sears, worth oh... 20K each. He has a safe full of them that he's just let sit there, earning interest. For those that don't know, the sear is just a small piece of metal easily manufactured but it has the SN stamped on it on registered subguns. The sear is what's actually registered and can have the gun built around it, and becomes a brand new fully transferrable subgun worth about 22 - 25K.
Would you recommend selling the upper (w/no bcg) and the complete lower separately? Or sell the entire gun?
It depends on who's looking, but I prefer to not be stuck with a lower demand part so all or nothing.
Thanks for the advice. Think ill wait and see if the BCG I ordered arrives in 2 weeks. If not, I think I'll sell it without the BCG. How long you think the panic buying will last so I can maximize profit and wait till the end.

I imagine right after the inauguration address would be a great time to sell.
Just before actually, the anticipation will be great but it will fizzle after his speech focuses on the fiscal cliff and healthcare.

your guns ain't the stocks you own imho, guns give you the sense of safety which's worth far more than a few thousand dollars. if you feel you got some extra guns that you ain't gonna need then it might be a good choice to sell them while their value is high but you better keep at least one or two guns at home to protect yourself in case a burglar should break into your house
Thanks for the concern my ninja, but I've got more on hand. And will be using this to upgrade anyways.

I would dump it right now and take my profit. There is no way Feinsteins bill passes. Six months from now prices will be back to normal and everyone that panicked and paid 2X or 3X retail will feel really dumb.

My advise is to tackle the root cause of your problem. Sell the gun and use the profit on surgery to enlarge your penis.

Why do you want him to have a bigger penis?
His ass is so stretched it requires big ones for stimulation now.

Just guessing that it's what he wants; it's by far the #1 problem for Republicans.
His ass is so stretched it requires big ones for stimulation now.
And this here is the #2 problem - latent but obvious homosexuality.

TSA-We went through this in Cali over 15 years ago…Lots of AR style rifles and large capacity clips were on the chopping block so folks stocked up on everything that they could get their hands on…The “day of the rope” never happened so now they are cashing in on this latest frenzy and selling for 3x to 4x profit. For the price of one AR-15 knock off you can buy some beautiful Seiko’s, Browning's and Henry’s…I would take a Browning or Henry Lever Action over an AR any day…

Mass hysteria...We went through this in LA after the Rodney King riots & then again after Bill Clinton was elected President...The more things change the more they stay the same...:lol

Put my gun up for sale last night, already up to 700 with 6 days left. This should be fun.

800 now. I am contemplating selling almost everything and tripling my current collection once the panic dies down. The more the anti-gun nuts talk, the more we arm ourselves. Funny how that works. If they'd just shut the fuck up gun sales wouldn't skyrocket.

Nice looking rig.
Thanks. Took my cheapest gun and slapped on every accessory I had laying around and am hoping that fetches quite a bit more than other similar models up for auction. Hoping I can get enough to turn a smith and Wesson sport into a Noveske or KAC SR15.
Bump for 1,025. 3 days left, action should start picking up.
$1,575 with 6 hours left.

The gun looks really violent and evil. My buddy here in CO just sold his ar15 for 3 grand. You should hold out for more.
1,625 dollars of gay goodness.
It's an entry level AR so I'm happy getting over double what I paid.
You can still buy them for 800 or so at Academy if you get there early enough.

1700.00 now
1775. I like how once another bid is placed another 15 minutes is added to the auction, unlike eBay. I'm having quite a bit of fun watching this auction.

One can purchase some great saddle rifles and single action pistols for $1800.00…

No, if you do, liberals will try to take them away next.

One can purchase some great saddle rifles and single action pistols for $1800.00…i think I did time it perfectly. The same models put up after mine don't seem to be getting nearly as much. I think the panic is subsiding a bit. Not sure what my next purchase will be but I'm looking at the new Springfield Armory EMP 9mm. It's a subcompact built on the 1911 frame and has gotten great reviews. Much smaller than the sig 229 I have now.
