View Full Version : Injury Update: Stephen Jackson right ankle injury

timvp

Stephen Jackson appeared to injure his right ankle following a three-point attempt. He let go of his shot and then fell backwards over a waitress who was serving someone on the front row. (Apparently, the waitress was serving NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg ... not sure how that matters, but whatever).

He limped to the sidelines and then went to the locker room. Jackson looked to be in considerable pain :td

there's got to be some kind of rule where people aren't allowed to be walking or kneeling courtside during game play right?

there is, but no doubt the mayor didn't give a fuck about that, and played the "I'm the fucking mayor" card. Hopefully the Spurs lodge some kind of complaint cause there really is no excuse for that shit

If kawhi has been having a healthy season, I'm not worried. The Kid could use a stretch with heavy minutes. But the Spurs are right back into a precarious situation regarding depth.

Silver Lining: at least at this rate, Stack won't suffer from dead legs in the playoffs.

On the one hand, this isn't good, because it forces some combination of the top three bigs into more minutes, Bonner to be inserted into the rotation or Green or Ginobili into more minutes at SF. On the other hand, this is good, because first and foremost what it forces, is Leonard playing well over 30 mpg, which needs to happen anyway.

I understand why Jackson is playing in excess of 20 mpg (to avoid the three "this isn't good" things I mentioned), but his minutes need to be slashed. He's got a single digit PER and is barely shooting 25% from 3. If/when they acquire a competent fourth big, they need to start utilizing him as a fringe rotation player.

I'm paying MSG a visit tomorrow night.

Made the trip to MSG trip tonight and was late - as I walked in, SJax was hobbling down towards the locker room. From watching this game and plenty of Knicks all year, they are just a bad matchup for us. Kidd bodies up Parker, Chandler clogs the lane and also plays good man D on Duncan. That said, this loss can be attributed more to tired legs than anything else. Shots were all flat and rotations were slow on D.

Good representations by Spurs fans in the crowd despite tickets being ridiculously expensive ($150 just to get in the door day of).

Fuck that shit. I love the Spurs, but there's no way in hell I'd pay that.

I got tickets for $20 at the last Spurs game I attended in December. It was well worth it, but $150? No way. But that's just me.

That's ridiculous, I'm pissed that now the only way I can see the Spurs is outside of New York because before the Nets moved, I could see them courtside in Jersey.

Watch Stephen Jackson get injured by Mayor Bloomberg's waitress

By Houston Mitchell January 4, 2013, 7:00 a.m.

Some mayors will do anything to help their team win. Are you paying attention, Antonio Villaraigosa (http://www.latimes.com/topic/politics/antonio-villaraigosa-PEPLT007500.topic)?

San Antonio Spurs (http://www.latimes.com/topic/sports/basketball/san-antonio-spurs-ORSPT000116.topic) forward Stephen Jackson (http://www.latimes.com/topic/sports/stephen-jackson-PESPT003550.topic) had just put up a three-point attempt from the corner Thursday night against the New York Knicks (http://www.latimes.com/topic/sports/basketball/new-york-knicks-ORSPT000200.topic) when he took a step back. Unfortunately for him, he stepped right onto a waitress who was taking an order from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg (http://www.latimes.com/topic/politics/government/michael-bloomberg-PEPLT007462.topic).
The waitress was in the out-of-bounds area but was just barely off the court kneeling in front of Bloomberg, who was sitting courtside.
Jackson sprained his right ankle and had to leave the game, never to return.

So, it's time for Villaraigosa to step up. Sit courtside at all Lakers and Clippers games. Try to time your orders just right to take out the best player on the other team. It's the least you can do for the city.

By the way, Bloomberg was ordering some popcorn and a bottled water.

“It is maddening. It is the same way at the ends of the court. It is an accident waiting to happen.”

(On personnel and fans going to the courtside seats during a play…)
“After what happened I have no doubt the league is going to contact people and make sure everybody shores up their discipline in that area. It is obvious that people shouldn’t be ordering beers, or cokes, or hot dogs, or whatever they ordered while the game is going on. Each arena has to have the responsibility of doing that.’

Totally agree with Pop. Those rich fucktards who can't be bothered to be in their courtside seats when the game is going on should have them taken away and given to real basketball fans. I hate it when those morons are walking down the sideline as the game is going on. :ihit
