View Full Version : What kind of Spurs fan are you?

Im wondering what kinda fan am I. I mean, I love the spurs. Dont getme wrong. But im tired of this roster man. I truly feel we aren't winning shit with this shit. Game after game Tim plays his ass off but he's the oldest. Ive grown tired of watching the spurs pick on weak teams but get bullied by the better teams. I got league pass broadband but I find myself not even turning the spurs on here lately. I mean when im away or at work I watch scoreboard on my phone an play by play. But I'm tired of seeing the same old shit with them man. They don't try to trade for any athletic players an anyone with some dam swag. You never know which Ginobili your gonna get, an I really feel Parker is fools gold. Diaw needs to go man. I swear I wish we could get Kirk Thomas, Dice, an Oberto back. Am I tripping or what? Is there anyone who feels my pain or who disagrees with me.

Yeah, man I really hate this roster that has one of the best records in the NBA. Makes sense.

I love to hate on some of our players, but we have a damn good team and are certainly an NBA title contender. I'm not saying it's likely, but we have as good of a shot as most any team out there. It could be much, much worse. You could be a Mavericks or Lakers fan.

The Spurs have truly spoiled us fans, though. 60+ win seasons and appearances in the Western Conference Finals would thrill most fans, but we don't even care anymore. It's NBA Title or bust!

Jumi

Shouldn't the mantra be, "NBA Title or Bust?" What's the point of following a team if not for the chance to see them win it all? This goes into the "we overachieved or we've had a good season" line of thinking. What would thrill most fans of mediocre teams, shouldn't thrill the fans of the Spurs. It isn't because we're spoiled, it's because this team is as capable as any other top contender to win it all! Who loves a loser? This isn't the Atlanta Braves of the nineties!

this is the same team that steamrolled the competition for 20 straight games last year to lose in a six game series in WCF. Pop is tinkering with its defense right now, knowing thats all this team is needing. I'm sure Pop wants a player who can add to the team defense, but he's not going to sacrifice too much considering how good it is.

LOL BULLIED by the good teams, we have a pretty good record against GOOD teams would not you say? The schedule tonight was setting us up to lose! 4 games in 5 nights again? GET REAL. This team is 26-9 sides the horrible schedule so far, they tried to rush us as many games as they could early on. Spurs might not win it all this year and I doubt they do, but they have a shot and will be a high seed again and how many years in a row can they do that? This team has been great for so long, give them a break nobody stayed on top nearly this long.

"You play to win the game" dam a break! When its ok just to be seeded high just to lose in 6 after winning the 1st 2 gms, I'll quit watching all sports. They need to be getting set for the future now. Its sad to say but Nobili is done after this season. Cpt Jack is done also. Hes slower on defense an his shot is falling off even faster. But like I said, maybe im tripping.

Oyea, I dont care what the Spurs do in the regular season! They're the model team right. Then they dont get a age pass cuz they get deep onto the playoffs.

They got far last year AND I have no clue how far they will get this year, tell me when Boston does it for this long or LA Lakers without some damn trade! Miami without a trade! Let them win this much for a decade or so and then tell me this team is bad! They do what they can! Their stars are older now, barring a Lottery where they get another TIM OR D ROB etc. it will be this way! They have done as good as they can, win or lose they are trying hard and with the staff they have maybe even overachieving at times! Memphis series they were done IMO, ready to be gone! Next year WCF, enjoy it!!!!!!!!!

Sure I'd like to see Vince Carter and JR Smith on the roster, but tbh when they thrash teams like Dallas and NJ last few games I'm pretty content.

I imagine in 3 or 4 years you'll get your "athletic swag" players, but I'm afraid the tradeoff will be a sharp decline in win percentage, tbh.

Since 1984, only 8 out of 30 franchises have won a title. Thats a long 30 years for the 22 other franchises. To have been a legit contender for so long is a testament to Pop, Duncan et al. Only one team can win it each year, you need to enjoy the ride and let the chips fall where they may.

We might win, we might not, but if you don't enjoy the ride then it's probably best you've stopped watching.

Dude every one feels this way when we see our Spurs knocked around by athletic strong teams like Memphis, Clips, OKC and now the Knicks. Spurs had a real tough time defending the 3, defensive rotations were slow, sloppy ball, and inefficient offense. Truly, these guys were gassed and it showed. I've said it before, Knicks aren't special the way the Spurs are with passing and team play, but they do have a lot of players who can get hot and when that happens, they often are all hot at once and it truly makes them a tough team to beat. But when it's the 4th city in 5 nights, our guys are at a real disadvantage. Don't get too down about this one, shrug it off. Enjoy the good games and shrug the few here-and-there whoopins off.

Let's be honest, when the Spurs start the rebuilding process, the expectations will fall. There will be times when sucess is defined by just making the playoffs. That time will come, the question is what are we doing to maximize the chances to ring while we have a chance. Someone needs to send Duncan a memo explaining to him that the work he's putting in is all for nothing! Until I see TD not come back stronger, hungrier, and more focused, I gotta ride wit the man! NBA Title or Bust!!

Someone should send his teammates the memo! Get yo ass in gear!!!:ihit

the only thing i hate is that the Spurs FO didn't get any help to Tim on the frontline. I really cant be that angry if we are playing Bonner.

Jumi
01-04-2013, 11:15 AM
Here's a thought....do you guys think the FO would consider moving Bonner for Tyler Hansbrough? He's on the out in Indy and the Pacers could use Bonner's skillset. We need a guy that gives it all, every single play. There PER is about the same. We already have a stretch 4 named Diaw! Diaw and Bonner gets redundant.

I hated the last couple of years a lot more....

This season Pop appears to have found some kind of "sense" again....don't know if it will last and don't know if it makes them a true contender - but at least I enjoy watching the games again.

Last season or two - it was painful, frustrating and infuriating to even watch a game and see Pop with his bullshit "small ball" and "Bonner-ball" rotations.

I remember when these sorts of threads were popping up in early 2007 and so many thought that the Spurs simply could not possibly compete for a title unless a trade was made; Corey Maggette was the apple of Spurs Talk's eye back then.

Obviously, that 2007 Spurs team was never going to win anything without a major overhaul that included the acquisition of Maggette.

Good times.

AS CAPABLE ? Do we still have a prime Duncan or Ginobili ? Damn peep are way high in their expectation, and set themselves up for disappointment.

Can't you see that our team current top play is supported by a very high level of TEAM play, yet the NBA is still a superstar players league. It's quite evident that the Spurs role players were shriveled in the post season, and that's the doom of this old superstars team. Our role players hit their AVERAGE shots in the playoff, and we would have won last year, no doubt about that.

I truly, TRULY, believe this team if it plays like they're capable can win the NBA title. It may take a shitload of lucky breaks and maybe an injury or suspension, but sometimes the stars align. Winning a title is extremely hard dude, you guys are not real Spurs fans if you can't support one of the best teams in the NBA because they don't have LeBron James

Guys, relax. The Spurs aren't "getting bullied" by the good teams, we've lost some close games while minus both of our SFs. Even Green and Ginobili ended up missing a bit of time after they had to play extra minutes in replacing them.

Those types of losses don't mean shit. Yes, we've lost a few games even with our full roster. . . but does it matter? We aren't going to go 82-0. The Spurs are still on pace for 61 wins despite statistically having the 2nd toughest schedule in the NBA so far and having to play through injuries.

Spurs are also still power ranked #1 in Hollinger's rankings even after the 4th game in 5 nights blowout loss at NY. They're even up by a comfortable margin too.

I can understand being a bit down about the season because of the mini losing streak the Spurs had at one point. . .but dude, book ending that mini losing streak was two big winning streaks. The two sets of b2b losses we had were also road b2bs against pretty good teams. Not entirely surprising we lost them when we were missing key guys. Only one of the games wasn't close anyway. It isn't like the Spurs have been getting hammered all season.

Spurs are fine. Our team will not be favorites to win the title again like they were last year, but they are going to be a top 5-6 contender again. No reason to act spoiled like Lakers fans. The Spurs have a real shot to win even if it's not as good as last year.

OP be trippin. :oops

This is the best roster we've had in years. Yes, we need to make one move involving moving some of our depth for a higher quality big to come off the bench (I'd target Varejao or Ilyasova), but I think this team has Finals potential. Their chemistry is off the charts, the O is explosive, and the D has improved from last season. I'm confident we can beat the Clippers in the playoffs (early season losses mean nothing, and they are weak in the 4th relying on CP3 to make all the plays), and I think we're a coin toss against OKC just like we were last year, although without Harden they are less dangerous.

Things are looking pretty damned good to me, especially since a few years ago I figured we'd be cellar-dwelling in rebuild mode right now.

the clowns u listed would need jax in the trade to get it to match salary wise, most of the clowns on the bench are earning like 3m or minimum...

I think straight up we could be them in a 7 game series. Their PF-C rotation is a joke, only Bosh has an a P.E.R of 15 or better (22.1 to Splitters 20.2) . Haslem ,their second best big, has a lower P.E.R Than Jackson, Blair, Bonner, Splitter, & Diaw.

Then again, Lebron is about all of the team your really need.

Wow. I can't believe some of the shit I read in this forum. I've been watching the spurs since 1987. I watched in anticipation when they drafted one of the greatest big men of all time in DRob to then watch the Spurs fail year after year after year to put a great team around him. We were one of the teams that had never tasted a title. Ever. Winning the Midwest Division title and keeping it out of the hands of the Utah Jazz was a big deal. The Spurs have been an absolute beast since Duncan has been here, spoiling fans like you and me with 4 titles and multiple playoff runs and you're going to bitch about the roster now? This team was supposed to be done a few years ago. DONE. They put on a show for you and me last year that no one expected. It was awesome to watch. Parker is a top 3 point guard, Manu is turning into Manu again and Duncan is probably the best big man in the league this year. Sit back, shut up, and enjoy the chance to get to call the Spurs "your" team. Fans of most other teams would revel in the chance to have what Spurs fans have had for so long.

I would take the Thunder simply because if it's ever a close game, which playoff games tend to be between somewhat between even teams (unless it's OKC dicking down the Spurs in the WCF like 2012), Kevin Durant will always play well. He's unstoppable.
