I just drank the SI Kool-aid and signed up for a 1-yr subscription. Of course, I did this to get the Spurs 3-pack (Hard Cover commemorative book, DVD and hat). I'll keep an eye out for that edition. Can't wait to read the article.

Oh yeah! Another mag to look for. Wish I had known this before I spent the day shopping. HEB here I come!!
When I went to HEB to buy the Manu version they had a promotional poster displayed at the table. I "oohhhed & aahhhed" over it and asked where I could buy the poster or if it came inside the mag. Lady said if I bought a mag she'd give me her extra. Sccccoooorrrrrrre!! :spin
BTW, I ordered the ObiWan poster online..I'm terribly disappointed for my 20 bucks. It's not so much that the poster is slick only on the backside (the front is more paper-y, rough feeling), it's the pixelation!! Manu's face is all blurry and pixelated. I wrongly assumed that the folks doing the selling were using a high quality photo on this poster.
So, keep it in mind if you're leaning towards getting one & stuff like that bothers you.

i'm looking into getting the nba.com deal so you get the dvd, t-shirt and hat and then odering the hardcover book from SI separately. more stuff, about the same price as going after the SI offer, i think. that's like $86 (not sure about taxes). i'm paying $77 for the nba.com stuff and the SI hardcover book is like $21.

Then I read through the article (or parts of it) and it wasn't even really about the Spurs, but rather about how uninteresting the finals were, and how badly ratings suffered, and what the NBA needed to do to ensure that people start watching again. I couldn't believe it! Does everything in sports these days have to be about money and ratings?! Naturally, I didn't buy the magazine. But that's what Sports Illustrated is selling here in Virginia today. Very dissapointed.

Yah, we have the same covers in Boston. That article was very dissapointing. Spurs/Pistons are boring, first 4 games are boring, Ducan is boring, same type of crap. Back handed compliments at best :rolleyes And most of the article talked about how the ratings were low. I don't think that this article was even written after the Spurs won the playoffs. I think that it was written after game 5.
