Dwight Howard aggravated his shoulder injury tonight. He’s going to have an MRI in the morning. Stay tuned.

Saw that in the TWC post game.

Lol at retarded D'Antoni not sitting Dwight tonight. Guy runs his players into the ground.

Dwight faking another shoulder injury after getting stripped for the 200th time this season tbh. Non-issue.

At this rate the Laker starting lineup by March will be Duhon, a hobbled Kobe, MWP, Jamison, and Hill.

Dude did the same thing with Amar'e when he was in NY.

I hold no applause to coaches who just throw in their best players until they're fatigued, Tom Thib does the same thing. I'm starting to grow a little more appreciative of coaches like Pop, hell even Del Negro keeps his players fresh.

it happens when your starters dont have to play 4th quarters most nights
clippers have the most 25+ point wins this season after only the spurs who started off the season pretty slow playing bad teams in close games

I wonder if Dwight is going to get "injured" just like he did "last year" when he "hurt" his "back" at coincidentally the exact same time that he got caught in the lie about wanting SVG fired.

From a thread upstairs:

Mike Bresnahan ‏@Mike_Bresnahan (https://twitter.com/Mike_Bresnahan) Dwight Howard has torn labrum in his right shoulder, is out at least a week. Pau Gasol has a concussion, is out at least two games. #Lakers (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Lakers&src=hash)

Only out a week after getting a torn labia? The guy is a trooper.

timvp
01-07-2013, 03:43 PM
Something fishy, tbh. Since when does a torn labrum only cause someone to sit out a week? That's usually a few months if no surgery is needed and the entire season if surgery is needed.

I'm starting to think that D-Ho basically gave up on the Lakers and is looking for a new start next season. :wow

Dwight's denying that he needs surgery, but knowing his track record, I'll wait until an actual doctor says he doesn't need surgery...

Is it safe to say unless they make some kind of crazy trade between now and the deadline that this team misses the playoffs? I know it's January but all signs seem to be pointing to a missed playoffs as things stand unless there's some kind of renaissance.

Lakers Picks 2013 Report

First round:

Lakers in lottery (1-14); pick to Suns
Lakers in playoffs (15-30); pick to Cavs
Least favorable Cavs, Miami, or Kings first round pick to Lakers (likely 28-30 Miami pick)

Second round:
Memphis top 55 protected (56-60) to Lakers
Mavs hold the right to swap second round picks.

tl;dr

Lakers will get the (~28) and (~40) picks

Lakers record doesn't matter since they will get Miami's pick (28-30 likely), and Mavs pick (40 since Mavs are projected to finish above the Lakers). Tanking does nothing and will only serve to give Suns a higher lotto and Mavs a higher second rounder.

And to note, an MRI isn't the be-all, end-all diagnostic method for evaluation the severity of this injury.

"This area is very complex and it is difficult to reliably get good pictures of this area with MRI.

However, if the MRI definitely shows a tear then frequently it will be present. The problem is that the MRI may miss smaller tears and cannot reliably make the diagnosis in larger tears of the labrum."

My source says a torn labrum is 3 months, minimum. Hard to treat, hard to get better, because it's in such a recessed area and you use it every time you rotate your shoulder.

Lamar was out for 3 weeks when he tore his labrum. Jason Smith was out for 2 weeks when he tore his. Dwight appears to be a fast healer. I expect at most 2 weeks. It doesn't matter anyway. By the time he decides to come back, I'm pretty sure the Lakers are so far out of the playoff spot the Lakers may decide to just shut him down for the season.

If Lamar was out for 3 weeks, I see Dwight being out at least a month, since Dwight's game uses that area much more than a player like Lamar or Smith. With how active Dwight was last night, he could've really done some damage.
