An excellent article about a young TD dealing with an injury and how Pop handled it...in lieu of what happened to RGIII yesterday and how Mike Shananan handled it.

Sometimes you have to think long term for your franchise player's career.

Duncan tore his meniscus the year after ring number 1 and managed to get 3 rings since, and still contends for a fifth.

Duncan has played through some tough injuries.. Sprained ankles, plantar fasciitis. RG 3 was a tough call yesterday when the NFL is one and done and he wanted to play so badly..

RG3's medial collateral ligament is a useless rubber band.

Some commentator mentioned before the season started that Shanny was going to run Griffin into the ground to save his job. That prediction was pretty spot-on. I don't understand why they wouldn't pull him when it was pretty clear that he couldn't throw an accurate pass.

I've had my criticisms of Pop over the years, but I don't have any problem with him sacrificing a playoff series because he treats his players like human beings. Telling Timmy to take whatever time he needed when his dad died is a similar example.

The Blazers need to take a good long read of that article. Playing Roy in the 2010 playoffs 8 days after knee surgery was a disgrace.
