I won't lie, when I read the OP I was upset. Angry even. It pulled up some painful memories that the Zoloft usually keeps out of my mind. My Uncle Jayden and Aunt Katelyn, deprived of even the most basic educational opportunities beyond their four years studying sociology and communication at Rice, would degrade themselves for audiences in the 3rd Ward. They'd put on khakis pulled up to their navels and cover their faces with correction fluid. Jayden would play the keytar while Katelyn sang songs about how much they loved living their simple life working as CPAs and shooting layups, eating enormous bowls of macaroni and cheese between each humiliating tune.

When I found out about it I never spoke to them again and spent so many years hating them. Looking back on it now I realize that they were just doing what they had to do to make it and deep down no matter how much animosity I had for them they probably hated themselves more than I ever could.
