Best coach we've had in probably 20 years and they fire him.

We agree. Glad for Gentry, though. This ship has sunk. No need to hold on to the floating debris any longer.

Just another "new low".

Worst record in the west.

No franchise player.

20 million being spent on Beasley, Childress and Channing Frye.

No coach.

:lol like the coach is the issue

:lol ownership should just fire themselves, tbh

I'm thrilled with the record. That said, I have no confidence the Suns ups will pick a franchise player with the high lotto pick. I'm convinced they'd have picked Darko #1 over LeBron. Woeful and whole full ineptitude.

He's a great coach when ownership isn't sabotaging his chances of winning year after year.

Wouldn't mind the Hornets having him as an assistant until he gets another head coaching job which may be years considering the color of his skin.

Surprising, tbh. I thought the Suns were playing about as well as possible.

Gentry should be a hot commodity next offseason. He did great work with the Suns after taking over the Terry Porter trainwreck.

Sarver apparently thinks this team has talent. They have Dragic and Gortat for in-prime, legit NBA talent, then some past prime and over-achieving talent in Scola, Dudley, and Brown. As DSF said, they are paying 20 million to three players who were waived, out with medical condition, or are too stupid to get PT.

After Dragic, I'm not sure there's a single piece worth a damn since Gortat is trade bait.

Dumb move, Gentry was the best thing the Suns had going for them. That team is another story

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA (https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA) After firing of Alvin Gentry today, top candidates to become Suns interim coach: assistants Elston Turner and Lindsey Hunter, sources say.

Part of Suns thinking w/ holding back Hunter as interim coach has been hope of giving him clean slate to take over in offseason, sources say

Suns front office installed Hunter into organization and see him as future head coach there. Turner is a favorite of owner, Robert Sarver.

Yeah, the Suns trying to scapegoat Gentry is as desperate as it gets, especially since no one buys it.

:lol keeping Babby and Blanks

Elston Turner is gonna for sure be the replacement. Babby hired him as the Suns' "defensive coordinator" (:lmao) and he'll promote him so he can whore a "tough, defensive minded coach" for PR purposes.

I don't even think Gentry is a great coach (they should have hired Thibodeau at least in 2009, instead of hiring Gentry on permanently). But didn't they say they wanted Gentry to be their coach as they go through this rebuilding process? I don't think Sarver even knows the meaning of "rebuild"! He thinks that having the worst record in the West is a bad thing??? I'm convinced Sarver would rather have 41-win 10-seed seasons every year.

I actually kinda feel sorry for Suns fans now. Unless they hit lottery gold, it's going to be a LONG time before they are a legit team again. Sarver is a bad combination of cheap, meddlesome and clueless. Babby/Blanks is probably the least knowledgeable GM duo in recent years. It's gon' be ugly for a while.

Most Suns fans got what they deserved. I don't have an ounce of sympathy for the jeebotards who supported stuff like signing Josh Childress and Warrick, trading for Turkoglu, and hiring an agent as the VP of basketball ops.

The common denominator between all of Phoenix's shitty teams is a fan base and local journalists obsessed with sentimental bullshit.

"I couldn't handle seeing Nash on another team!"
"Becoming a defense first team would be admitting those east coast libtards at ESPN were right about D'antoni's system!"
"Max Hall's daddeh went to ASU so that means he deserves a starting QB job for the Cardinals!"
"I know Leandro Barbosa is playing terrible, but his mommeh is dying!"
"There's no way they couldn't let Channing Frye leave even if it meant overpaying him, he's a local kid!"
"I like the Kendall Marshall pick even though he can't shoot or jump because he's a true class act!"

The biggest reason Phoenix teams suck is because of the fans and local media. It's laughably easy for owners like Sarver and Bidwill to find some sentimental story for Phoenix fans to jerk off to while the team sucks (i.e. the semen cloud over Phoenix after Max Hall was named the starting QB in 2010).

Fortunately I'm done in this state in a few months and can laugh at Arizona tea baggers from a distance.

It all starts at the top. Sarver needs to sell the team to a decent owner in order for me to feel good about their future. Tbh, though, it was more frustrating when they were good, knowing that they weren't going to win a championship.

Well, that makes Sarver even worse than Sterling at this point, and even if Dolan is a classic Upper Class Twit at least he's willing to spend.

more turnover from this:

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA (https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA) As @paulcoro (https://twitter.com/paulcoro) reports, O'Neal will not be accompanying Suns on road trip. Story soon on Y! Sports.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA (https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA)
Suns GM Lance Blanks and center Jermaine O'Neal engaged in a loud, expletive-laced confrontation on Monday, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Paul Coro ‏@paulcoro (https://twitter.com/paulcoro)
Lead assistant Elston Turner didn't attend a 3rd consecutive #Suns (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Suns&src=hash) practice. He was to meet w/Blanks today. Majerle already has parted ways.

Why didn't the Suns give Thunder Dan a chance as the head coach? Picking Hunter over Thunder Dan is fuckin' ridiculous and a joke. What the hell is the front office thinking?
