Lupe Fiasco just got thrown off stage here at the Hamilton Live after he went on an anti-Obama diatribe mid set.

So Lupe played one anti-war song for 30 min and said he didn't vote for Obama and eventually was told to move on to the next song.

Lupe refused to move to the next song so a team of security guards came on stage and told him to go.

Things going terribly wrong at @lupefiasco performance during #SURO (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23SURO). Kicked off stage, bashing obama.

#SURO (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23SURO) slammed by @lupefiasco's nonstop, anti-obama rap. Corporate sponsors scurrying.

A statement from one of the concert's sponsors:

Disappointed that an artist took opportunity to use an event celebrating innovation/startups to make a political statement. #StartUpRockOn (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23StartUpRockOn)

Report: Rapper Lupe Fiasco thrown offstage during pre-inauguration event after anti-Obama rant

Rapper Lupe Fiasco was thrown offstage and escorted off the premises of a Washington, D.C. concert hall during a pre-inauguration concert Sunday night, after going on an anti-war, anti-Obama rant, according to concertgoers.

Josh Rogin, a reporter with Foreign Policy magazine, tweeted (https://twitter.com/joshrogin/status/293217852834598912) late Sunday, “Lupe Fiasco just got thrown off stage here at the Hamilton Live after he went on an anti-Obama diatribe mid set.”
“So Lupe played one anti-war song for 30 min and said he didn’t vote for Obama,” he continued (https://twitter.com/joshrogin/status/293223847140945921), ”and eventually was told to move on to the next song…Lupe refused to move to the next song so a team of security guards came on stage and told him to go.”

Another attendee at the StartUp RockOn event tweeted (https://twitter.com/mdornic/status/293218178593607681), “Things going terribly wrong at @lupefiasco performance during#SURO. Kicked off stage, bashing obama…”
This isn’t the first time the rapper, born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, has been vocal about his dislike for the president.

During an interview with CBS in 2011, he called the president a terrorist. Lupe said (http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/politics/123467904.html), “My fight against terrorism, to me, the biggest terrorist is Obama and the United States of America. I’m trying to fight the terrorism that’s actually causing the other forms of terrorism.”

“You know, the root cause of terrorism is the stuff the U.S. government allows to happen. The foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists.”

Lupe has also criticized Obama’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has stated that he does not vote in elections because of his anti-establishment views.

It is unclear why the event’s organizers invited him to perform in celebration of Obama’s second inauguration.

I'm glad Lupe didn't compromise who he was.

Yeah, since he already did that once with Lasers. Doing it again would make him a complete sellout.

Oh, Gee!!

I wonder how Fox News is treating this. One the one hand, he took a big shit on Obama is a terrific way. On the other hand, he's black and a rapper and a Muslim, which means he probably frightens the shit out of all of those bigoted assholes at Fox News.

I like Lupe. I think he's talented and bright. And though my disappointment with Obama's presidency doesn't come anywhere close to that of many former supporters (my own cynicism about the current governmental structure/atmosphere kept me from ever having expectations of Obama that were lofty enough for the eventual fall to have done much damage), I share a number of the same concerns as those Lupe expressed about the administration.

That said, I can't help thinking this feels more like a tantrum than a statement.

Who gives a shit? The Middle East is not the problem. Obama's reckless spending is the problem.

I don't really care what he thinks he is. He doesn't present his own thoughts but rather the thoughts of others mostly through youtube. Those others are quote clearly are partisan with their constant refrain towards presidential politics and decrying the tyranny of 'liberals.'

One of the event organizers, HyperVocal, disputes the report that Lupe Fiasco was "kicked off stage." The company's statement, via Mediaite:

"Lupe Fiasco performed at this private event, and as you may have read, he left the stage earlier than we had planned. But Lupe Fiasco was not “kicked off stage” for an “anti-Obama rant.” We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act."

I can respect that.

I wonder who thought that this guy, with his open views, would be good for the venue.

I also wonder why he would be so disrespectful by doing what he did. When invited someplace, be cordial. If you cannot, then decline the invitation. Just that simple.

just because a person has musical abilities it doesn't mean they have a basic understanding of common decency...in fact most musicians and athletes are idiots they try so hard to sound intelligent...especially the black entertainers...it's a real struggle...:lol but I like the way Tim Duncan sounds...he has a real girly voice..Tony Parker too :lol

Good for Lupe, I'm a little curious as to how he even got an invite considering his lyrics towards Obama in multiple songs.

Still, I just don't think a club promoter, or talent promoter who knew what he was doing, would book Lupe in DC at the time.
