The Austin Toros have acquired Chris Roberts in exchange for guards Justin Dentmon and Luther Head from the Texas Legends.
“While trading Justin Dentmon was a difficult decision we are thrilled to welcome Chris Roberts to the Toros,” said Sean Marks, Toros General Manager. “Chris is a talented young player with a big upside and a bright future ahead of him”
Roberts (6-4, 205, Bradley) played two years at Navarro College and finished his collegiate career at Bradley where he averaged 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds his senior year.

Dentmon gone is a good thing for Joseph if/when he will sent back to Austin. The ball will be more in his hands and he will play more at the PG spot.
The bad part if that this trade also likely means that Spurs plan is to have Joseph spending the season in Austin while I wanted him to get a legit shot at Spurs' backup PG spot.

He's been traded but Spurs still have his NBA rights correct?

Ah, at first I thought it was Chris Douglas-Roberts they acquired (since he was also on the Legends).
As for this trade, anything to get Dentmon off the team I'm happy about. A ballhog-ish point guard who doesn't have the skill for the NBA was only going to get in the way of Cory Joseph. With how San Antonio's roster is composed now, Luther Head had no chance to be called up ... so that's not a loss.
Addition by subtraction, even if this Douglasless character doesn't do anything.
But, yeah, Bruno I agree that this move makes in much less likely that Joseph gets a legit shot this season. Considering how bad backup PG has been this season for the Spurs, not even giving him a try is a shame.

Spurs don't have NBA rights on these players.

It's still possible for the Spurs trade for a backup PG though... Still have plenty of time left. We never know.

Ah sorry, I got Justin Dentmon confused with Marcus Denmon

Aside of some Joseph considerations, another reason for this trade could be that Toros have signed a PG. After a quick look, Squeaky Johnson isn't playing with a team overseas...

I actually just played with Squeaky a week ago in a pick up game in Houston. Seemed to be in pretty good shape. Wouldn't be surprised to see him back in Austin.

Really might be a move to give Dentmon an extended look by the Mavs more than anything. He was on their summer league team. I wouldn't read to much more into it for Joseph right now.
