Looks like hand guns were used in what most describe as the worst mass shooting in our history.

Possibly, but other things reported that day were that he killed his mom in her kindergarten class, that his brother was the killer....

Was it because of a protest, or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they’d go kill some Americans? What difference, at this point, does it make?

.223 rounds in a handgun? Hardly. .22 perhaps, but if a coroner reports .223 wounds, that's not a handgun.

You're putting alot of faith on a coroner who probably never dealt with a .223 or a 5.56.

I ask you how you to elaborate how you think they could all make the mistake you think is possible.

No. I was talking about the video I saw that said four handguns were used. Not about .223 rounds. My mention of the coroner being weird was about his demeanor in the interview, not what he reported

Well, a normal or long 22 will do far less damage than the 223. The entry hole will be the same size, but there is a good chance that the 223 will exit and leave a large exit hole, while the 22 will likely stay in the body.

I was just reflecting back to a report I heard that said the wounds were caused by .223 rounds. All one need do is walk through the school. .223 would be in the walls and surely there were spent casings as I doubt he collected them.

Not necessarily. Similar but different. You can shoot .223 ammo in a 5.56 but shouldn't shoot 5.56 ammo in a .223.

Thanks. I learned something new. There are some minor differences, but I also read looking for this that some .223'" are designed to shoot 5.56 mm as well.

On a .223 Remington spec rifle, the throat will be 0.085”. This is the standard described by SAAMI. The throat in a 5.56 NATO spec rifle is 0.162”, or almost double the throat length of the .223. The problem comes when you ram a 5.56 into a shorter throat .223 and the bullet is pressed into the rifling instead of sitting in the smooth throat like it is supposed to. This can create excessive back pressure when fired that can swell or rupture bullet cases

This is a myth. The pressure differences in those chambers are negligible, even sometimes lower for the .223 chamber than the 5.56 when firing 5.56. Though you should shoot the round that the barrel is chambered for, the 5.56 will not blow up the barrel of a .223.

DMC
01-27-2013, 01:18 AM
As noted above, the two rounds are basically the same round. If you hand loaded and loaded one hotter than the next, you still have the same round. A .223 hole is a .223 hole, and a coroner wouldn't use his pinky to tell the difference, there are scientific methods for this procedure and he doesn't need to be personally familiar with the round itself.

Do you have a problem with gun manufacturers trying to market towards people who want to get their kids a gun, or into shooting? I for one am buying my girls a 22 handgun. There is barely any recoil and it's pretty light. THey are 7 and 4.

Where should she be holding the target? That's a really good deal for a brand new 22...

yes, they are, along with the NRA. With their $Ms they buy politicians to deregulate and block control of guns, they LIE to ignorant voters who vote pro-gun/anti-regulations politicians, so they can sell guns to anybody, including The Bad Guys. It's all profit. 100M guns in USA are not for home defense or 2nd Amendment :lol, they are overwhelmingly, primarily for the financial gain of the gun manufacturers and the NRA. The result is 10Ks of gun deaths in USA. THE GUN PROVIDERS DON'T FUCKING CARE. The more gun deaths, the more "home defense" propaganda, the more guns sold. $$$$$$$

Adam Lanza Was Bullied While He Attended Sandy Hook Elementary, Family Member Says

Adam Lanza was bullied while he attended Sandy Hook Elementary and his mother Nancy considered suing the school for turning a blind eye to the abuse, an unnamed Lanza family member told (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/exclusive-lanza-mom-mulled-lawsuit-article-1.1315985) the New York Daily News.“

Adam would come home with bruises all over his body,” the relative told the Daily News. “His mom would ask him what was wrong, and he wouldn’t say anything. He would just sit there.”

The family member went on to say that Lanza’s mother was distressed by the abuse, and didn’t believe school officials were protecting her son: “Nancy felt fiercely protective of him. She was convinced the school wasn’t doing enough to protect Adam. It made her irate.”

The relative also appears to attribute Lanza’s emotional and mental health problems to the experience, telling the Daily News that he never “seemed right” after his time in Sandy Hook.

“He was a sick boy,” the relative said.
