"It's nothing major, that's the main thing. I think he's going to miss the game in Dallas and then he'll be back. So it's good rest for him."

I don't think it's great news but it's certainly far from the worst news. By missing these two games, Duncan'll have P L E N T Y of rest before the Rodeo Road Trip. Hopefully it's just a rest gameplan and nothing more.

Nothing major on a bad knee can get major in a hurry...

Might depend on which knee as well. I didn't notice.

They obviously aren't going to make him play a b2b with a sore knee. No matter how minor it is.

Parker just said that Tim Duncan might not play against the Mavericks on Friday.

Duncan took a few hard falls in that game against Philadelphia so he most likely fell on it hard or tweaked it going down to the ground or something. I don't think its some sort of knee problem that's been nagging him and all of a sudden its flaring up. I saw him hit the deck more then a few times in that Philly game so it probably happened on one of those plays.

We should sign Finley for the Mavs game so he can guard Dirk :lol

Aw man, I'm going to the Dallas game :depressed

I agree w/ the decision though. He should be playing the home portion of a road-home b2b. It allows him a greater rest period and it's fair to the fans in SA.

Ah damn, I live in Dallas and bought tickets to the Spurs game this Friday...Tim is my favorite player and I was really hoping to see him. :(

Is it possible that the Spurs are just lying about his injury? It seems plausible in light of the fact that they were fined earlier this season for resting uninjured players.

You should file a lawsuit.

For those fretting about Duncan's availability in Friday's game, Parker did say "I think" so who knows.

But I'm sure the Spurs would like to play it safe.

Yeah it's conspiracy and they had him fake limp at the end of the sixers game. Sounds likely....

It seemed like Timmy's brace keeps him from fully straightening his knee, at least when walking.

Russo21

Definately faking knee troubles to have a rest. Now that Pop can't be honest and use DNP OLD or DNP REST they now have to lie about it. Just a way to side-step Stern and save $250,000 for sitting a game out.

I think this is good news. I was worried that Duncan's knee was just weakening on him due to the wear and tear of the season. But if it was a result of a fall (he fell a lot during the Sixers game), the chances are better than he could recover and get back to the high level he was playing at the whole season. Of course, that's assuming that no serious injury occurred during the fall.

But, yeah, encouraging news :tu

Good tidbit of info. I'll go back and see if I can figure out when it happened. As everyone said, that would be really great if it's something that will heal up quickly and not tendonosis.

Well I just got done going through the game, and I think "fell on the knee" isn't an accurate description.

If Duncan hit the deck in that game, I didn't see it. He was laboring just a bit through the game, but nothing too alarming. He went up for an uncontested defensive rebound with just over a minute to go in the third, and he just kind of came down flat-footed. That's the first time he showed any sign of loping on that leg. Gary Neal was fouled shooting a three two plays after that, and Duncan subbed out. This would explain why it took so long for Duncan to come back, and when he did, he was dragging that leg. He played very well, but it was clearly slowing him down by that point. I'm sure Pop would have been thrilled not to put him back into the game.

That's a great news that the injury is just the result of a hit. :tu

Spurs schedule will be really light with 2 home games in 10 days after the b2b @Mavs and vs Suns. It will allow Tim and the rest of the team to be really fresh for the rodeo road trip.

I'm somewhat concerned about Pop. It's not like him to miss games like this. He's 64 so it's not like he's a young buck. Let us hope it's something like the flu or something relatively minor.

He had a bunch of stitches when he had the carcinoma removed, and I don't think he missed a game.

Pelis are Stern's team. Not showing up along with your NBA Legend is Pop's way of telling Stern to go fuck himself.

Beats me. Maybe he's wrong. Maybe he doesn't want anyone to know. Maybe he wants to make the all-star team. Maybe he's in denial. Maybe he banged it setting a screen and just assumed it was from a fall. You're telling me what Timmy said, I'm telling you what happened in the game. I'll go back and watch the second half again.

I believe you, no need to go back and watch the footage. I'm just saying what Tim said. If he didn't fall, then I have no idea why he is saying it was from a fall. Why would he lie? It's very strange.

I highly doubt it's a lie, he may just know it was from contact. Hell, there may have been a fall in the first half or something and it didn't start to really bother him until he stopped playing for fifteen minutes and had to come back in. Perhaps I should double check the first half...
