In the last 4 games he has averaged 17ppg and 9rpg on .707% :wow

When he's in the paint, it's like watching DeJuan as a rookie.. plus 6 inches

in my opinion he's a decent big man, i mean don't get me wrong i love what he's doing but i also think he is a product of the system and is thriving because of good set ups and great passing by tp/manu

:lol Good one. The system makes the guards look better than they really are, the bigs are often ignored... Agree about the Tp/Manu passing

Splitter>>>>Howard

I was going to laugh but I thought I'd check Basketball Reference before commenting. The stats actually seem to back this up somewhat.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/SAS/2013.html#advanced::none

Splitter has a WS/48 of .234 (1st on the team), DRTG 99 (3-way tie for 3rd on the team), ORTG 124 (beating out Bonner for 1st on the team), PER 20.5 (4th on the team). It's kind of maddening how in spite of this, Splitter's usage rate is ranked 9th on the team with guys like Gary Neal, Blair, and even Cory Joseph ahead in usage percentage. :bang

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/LAL/2013.html#advanced::none

Howard has a WS/48 of .132 (2nd on the team), DRTG 101 (2nd on the team), ORTG 106 (9th on the team :lol), PER 19.8 (2nd on the team). All I can say is that the Lakers are having a terrible season if this is their second best player. His usage rate is 3rd on the team behind Kobe and some guy named Darius Johnson-Odom. Under the circumstances I don't know what they're thinking giving Howard that many offensive possessions. Earl Clark and Chris Duhon look more efficient right now tbh.

Howard has been way better than Tiago on the glass this season though and even slightly better than Tim.

Synergy also had some interesting stats on the Spurs' offense. Haven't gotten around to checking out the defense.

Splitter understands angles and how to properly roll better then all the brain deficient big men in the nba like dejuan blair
blair only scores when manu throws passes between someones legs
splitter still scored 20 vs miami with gary neal setting him up
he would thrive with any other competent pg who can make simple bounce passes
if he played with steve nash hed probably average 20 pts a game

people act like what splitter is doing is so easy
if it was then why isnt every other big in the nba putting up lines like tiago

Consistently getting open and being able to catch the ball while on the move are skills that people underrate in bigs I think.

Splitter's problem has been finishing strong. I'm not sure who talked to him or if it just hit him while watching game tape, but he seems to be correcting that and going up more decisively.

Please don't say something like he's 1/500th Jew on his step-dad's side. All Jews, Muslims, and Christians are sons of Abraham, tbh.

Tim will be around for another year or two and Id like to see Tiago basically just become his replacement. The guy is still pretty young and learning more and more as time goes by. He seems pretty bright, is motivated and seems to be a good teammate. If he is due for some bucks soon I have no real issue with it.

previous game stats

I hope Splitter doesn't suffer a relapse of CD, whatever that is. It was pretty chronic for a while, as it was listed on the box scores for all the games he missed.

Yeah, Tiago Splitter Beims doesn't sound very jewish. And Blumenau (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blumenau), Tiago's hometown was the perfect place for a jew settle down in the first half of the 20th century. I suppose...

Wow, Splitter's family is historically Jewish. I didn't know that.

Six of his relatives were killed in the Holocaust. (http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3365622,00.html)

It turns out that Splitter (22, 2.12 m) has Jewish roots which go back five generations. Six members of his family died in Auschwitz death camps. His father, Cassio Splitter, has been trying to trace back the family tree for the past 28 years, and asked his son to use the visit to the holy land to gather as much information as possible.

“I grew up like a regular Christian boy, but my father always told me about our Jewish background,” Tiago tells ynet. “This is my first visit to Israel, and I am very excited. It’s a very special place to me. Unfortunately, I will not be able to visit Jerusalem and the holy places because of the preparations for the game, but I hope to have another chance to visit in the future.”
One family's journey
The family journey began in about 1870, when Johann Splitter, Cassio’s great-grandfather, left Germany to settle in Brazil with his wife, Anna Saul. “To this day I cannot figure out the exact reason they fled Germany,” says the senior Splitter. “Other relatives stayed in Europe, and I know some of them were in a Polish town in the Krakow area.”

In his search for his family history, Cassio visited Hamburg and Bremen. He met Regina Splitter, a relative, at the historical archives in Rio de Janeiro. The two traveled to Poland together, where they discovered that their ancestors were killed in the Holocaust. “There are no more members of the Splitter family left in Poland today,” he says.
Cassio visited his son in Vitoria last week, and joined him and the team for the Royal Cup games in Malaga. He missed the flight to Tel Aviv: “It could have been amazing, but I was too late, unfortunately. Even though I am a church member, I am very connected to Judaism. The full truth lies in Kabbalah, and you cannot question it. I live in Santa Catarina in Southern Brazil, and many of my friends are Jews. I will not give up the search for my family history. I see it as my life’s work.”
Tiago Splitter is considered as one of basketball’s rising stars, and is marked as a potential NBA player. He joined Tau Vitoria at the age of 15, and has played there ever since. He opens games regularly, along Argentinean Luis Scola.
“Everyone needs to know where they come from,” he sums up. “I think that fleeing Europe caused the detachment from Judaism. I respect Judaism and feel close to it. Even though I am Christian, ultimately, we all come from the same place.”

And they choose the second german-ish city in Brazil to settle down. Crazy. Even more if you think there are places in Sao Paulo or Rio crowded of jews. Blumenau is so german that's why I thought it was a joke. But his family emigrated to Brazil some decades before the austrian prick took the power. That explains why they settled down in a "little german" city.

The same Germans that settled TX settled Brazil -- liberal Germans who were escaping/being "encouraged" to leave pre-Weimar Germany. Plenty of nazis settled in Brazil, but far more progressive Germans settled there.

Another awesome game from Splitter against the Mavs. No reason for basically taking half as many shots as Blair/Diaw though.
