:lol Glad I'm not the only one that noticed.

Anyways, being the contrarian I typically am, I actually enjoyed that play, from the perspective of his development and introduction to the team and league. As he ran back down the court after the Mavs scored off his turnover, you could see it written all over his face, like "this shit just got real!" It's like a wake up call, like ice cold water dumped on your head. You could tell that he did not like that fucking feeling! And I bet that play, even though in the scheme of things it meant nothing in the game, will stay with him a long time as he works to get a place in the rotation. So if you think about it, there's actually great benefit from him making that blunder. In the same way that you might teach a dog not to hump people's legs by thumping him on the head with a rolled up newspaper, that turnover should work well as negative reinforcement, an ever present reminder for Baynes not to be careless on even the most innocuous plays. :tu

Guy was paid as a scrub and is that what he is. No misteries, no surprises. Splitter had a bigger salary in Europe than the value he accepted to play in the Spurs. Some things speak by itself.

Russo21
01-26-2013, 08:17 AM
Dude the guy played like 1 second. He'll be fine.
He doesn't know any of our plays.
He probably doesnt know half the names of his new teammates.

TBH i thought it was bad to put him in at the end when the game is already over. Couple of desperate attempts from the opponent and a couple of fuckups and you can make it seem like he nearly lost the game. He should have entered the game much earlier or never entered the game at all.

That situation for a rook not knowing anyone or any plays, that 30 seconds PT can all be bad, unfortunately it was with a desperate team trying to win in crunchtime and they got it close.

Get him on the floor earlier!! He won't learn or show anything he is capable of in 30 second stints at the end of a ballgame. He looked huge out there! He looked really quick to. To see what he's capable of he needs to be played earlier in the game. Not scrub minutes when theres nothing to be done except to not lose the game. Get him in there to see if he can help us get those leads. On his height, physical credentials and that damn speed he can be really good. I'm gunnin for this fucker and starting a 'Play Baynes' chant all over the city.

I just laugh at the ppl who were ready to trade players to make room for for this new guy before he even played one minute and I just laugh at his debut. It doesnt mean a thing but was quite funny! an instinct, reflex MUCH more important for a guy whose primary role will be rebounding, than handling an inbound press in a full court pass.

Blah, blah, blah.

The value in what happened was actually a teaching lesson for coach Bud. You don't put a new guy whose job is to rebound and knock people around in that situation, in his first game, and cold off the bench. It's probably a good thing because making a mistake and moving on goes along way to playing without being afraid to make a mistake.

No harm no foul. I look at the situation as a value add for both Bud and Baynes. You got to keep your head in the game at all times. It's a lesson that if Blair would have ever learned he would not find himself on the end of the bench.

It's only funny because of the over the top predictions from this site that as a rookie he's going to be something more than a two point, two rebound average guy that gets 5 minutes a game barring injuries to other players.

of course his turnover is not any indication of his overall ability to make an impact on the team. He's never played an NBA minute, he sat the whole game, and they inserted him in the game when the other team was pressing like crazy. He needed to be sharp at that moment and he didn't have the same focus as the other guys that had played minutes. If Dallas had waived the white flag, he would have gotten a shot attempt and if he made that shot this site would be taking about him making the all star team next year.

But don't you know, thats literally EVERYBODY that we sign to fill the 15th man slot, mid-season. They're ALWAYS the savior of the franchise.

The other savior is the doghouse big that can't get off the bench. Ian Mahinmi would have won us 7 championships in 3 seasons if we'd given him a chance. He was THAT good - if you believe what you read on Spurstalk.

I actually thought there were a couple of times earlier when Bud could have given him a few minutes. We were up 20ish a few times and going so well that even Millsy got worn out and could only flop the towell from the seated position. Give Baynesy a few minutes next game it'll be the best thing for him.

Nando was terrible for his first 100 minutes or so. If Pop didn't think he was Manu v2 he would have been sent back straight away. Yet we have seen some flashes of brilliance from him against poor opposition. And we have put up with shitago for many seasons and we are finally seeing a quality player.

Lmao fucking scrub

Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and let people 'think' your stupid than open it and remove all doubt.

:the spurs:

1. Completed his buyout.

and

2. Sign him to a contract.

To play him for less than a minute and grade him on that and thats it? Please.Alot of teams win some and lose some. Get with it!

what a tosb... I'm glad that Dejuan showed all the haters out there that we've had the savior all along, and he wears number 45, right playblair? We knew it! both of us! Baynes is nothing but an NBA scrub who will do nothing but earn the league minimum for his height. What a loser and a waste of money. Now Blair on the other hand...

Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and let people 'think' your stupid than open it and remove all doubt.

Also, Blair has games like this but when everything slows down, and the game becomes more deliberate in the playoffs his lack of height is exposed every time. Show some basketball sense please.

Guy was paid as a scrub and is that what he is. No misteries, no surprises. Splitter had a bigger salary in Europe than the value he accepted to play in the Spurs. Some things speak by itself.

And some things are said and say nothing.

There will be a time (SOON) when I will be laughing at this thread while we are celebrating on a GIF of a monster dunk of Baynes over scrub Ibaka and Perkins in the WCF while averaging 12-10 a game :O

Great way imo for Baynes to debut. He's set a low point for his career so either he can keep reducing that point or he can just do better from here on out.
