Rest time for Timmy, easy schedule, now's the time to see exactly who can step up and put points on the board and get the rotation at least sorta settled

I'm more worried about Pop. I hope he's not gonna pass away.

Glass half full: Tim Duncan is taking the equivalent to his All-Star break rest now.

Glass half empty: Maybe the renascence is over. :depressed

Does Pop have a bad flu??

Pop is the one making me nervous, maybe he has some serious health issues and is hiding it(you know he isn't young anymore...)

Probably just being careful with Tim. The Spurs don't necessarily need him against the now-lowly Suns, and since the Spurs have already won 2 without Tim, it wouldn't be the end of the world if they lost one anyways. No need to rush him back.

If you asked Pop if he was okay with the Spurs going 2-1 to rest Timmy for a week, pretty sure he would take it in a heartbeat.

After Matt's "flu" comments on ESPN, I hardly think it can be very bad

I asked andrew mcneill from 48 minutes of hell about if timmy's knee was a real concern and he said this:

Andrew A. McNeill@drew_48moh
Kuestmaster Nah, but they've got three days off after today, so that had something to do with holding him out tonight.

We'll see if it's a concern or not, but I understand the thought process in Tim sitting out..Spurs should win this game without Duncan, it's a good idea to keep him out..

Phoenix is the worst team in the West, Spurs are at home, Duncan's absence should not be a factor..

This is exactly what I was thinking. He doesn't need to play in this game. More rest would be beneficial.

Pop really doesn't want to coach the ASG, and he told Tony to show how much he wants Pop to be there. The Spurs are much more likely to have a shot at a title if Parker learns to step up and be elite when teams are focusing on him.

Since the Spurs are doing fine without the Big Renascencadental, I'm thinking that glass is about 3/4 full.

JMcDonald_SAEN Bud said the fact Spurs have 3 days off after tonight made decision to sit Tim Duncan easier.

JMcDonald_SAEN Budenholzer: "You put all this rest together, hopefully it's a good thing for him."

JMcDonald_SAEN Budenholzer said he made only one request of Pop in their latest phone chat: "Can I get at least one game with Tim Duncan?"

I would love to see Pop get to be the All Star coach. What an awesome opportunity to send his guys home from the game due to injury or illness or whatever. Take that Stern ! LOL...just kidding of course.

that would be more like the glass is completly empty and smashed on the ground.

i think he's ok. even if he doesn't come back the same, maybe he'll still keep going straight up on shots instead of fading away on every shot like the last 2 years.

Pop has been called up by the CIA, activating his sleeper cell. He is currently somewhere in Russia about to kill Putin.

If not for the fact that both Timmy and Tony are going, it's somewhat funny to ponder a scenario where Pop gives all of the other Western Conference all-stars the flu... Maybe even Stern himself... :lol

Remember when Kawhi was slated to be out 10-14 days then was out for nearly a month? Sure he came back later but when he returned he wasn't rusty at al.

The Spurs are simply erring on the side of caution here, tbh (and we're talking about a 36 year old MVP candidate - even Pat Riley sat Kareem out), and it's not as if they'll leave for the RRT without TD.
