The current 8th seed in the WC, Houston, is 2 games above .500. Lakers are currently 7 games below .500. :lol

In order for the Lakers to make the playoffs they would have to finish the season by winning 9 more games than they lose (assuming they'd win any tie breaker with the 8th seed). With 39 games remaining, that means they would have to finish with a record of 24-15 to tie Houston. This is a .615 winning percentage. :lmao

We'll update this thread daily until the Lakers are mathematically eliminated. This is gonna be fun. :flag:

TBH; I'd like them in the 8th spot. To at least get 1 game from OKC.

Houston is 1 game above .500 and LA is 3.5 below .500. Making up 4.5 games in 38 could be tough for them, but it wouldn't shock me if they did, especially since Houston has been playing awful lately. Of course they gotta beat Portland and stay in front of Dallas too.

They're also going on the Grammy Road Trip soon. The Lakers are 5-15 on the road. That's worse than the Pelicans (who are 7-14 on the road).

And in what planet do you think that is going to be possible?

Lakers couldn't beat Thunder if they started the game -15 to the Lakers. Specially in the POs. :lmao

The Lakers are... wait for it...

0-6 against the West's top 3 seeds. Even if they make the postseason they're likelier to be swept.

Stern will soon count moral victories as legit victories and give the Lakers handicap points to start the game as well. Could you imagine the $$$ lost from the Lakeshow not making the playoffs? Remember 2005 when Stern was contemplating suicide?

With today's win, Lakers are now 4 games behind the 8th seed. Question is, can Kobe stay as a team player after a career of it being about "Me, Me, Me, Me and Me"? I think Kobe's desire to score points will override his decision to "sacrifice" for wins. We shall see with the Grammy Road Trip coming up....

Lakers have 38 games left, they need to finish with a record of 23-15 to tie for 8th. This is a .605 win rate. If Kobe plays team ball it is very doable. I don't think he can do it...

it's not like houston are gonna go .500 for the 2nd half of season tbh. houston will start to play like a lottery team that they are, and the 8th will be open for competition between lakers and mavs imho

Some other teams have to cooperate, but Kobe is 2 back of the scoring title (KD and Carmelo), so he's got to be torn right now.
