Honestly, I'm the one who took the bet with him and I don't think any of this is necessary. I feel like you guys are way too cynical here. Is it because he's a Lakers fan? I don't understand the cynicism here...

DeadlyDynasty made a bet. I accepted. That's that. It's done. I have full confidence that the bet will be honored both ways (whether the Spurs win or whether the Lakers win, assuming they actually meet in the playoffs). Two people have vouched for him (DPG is timvp's nephew, IIRC, and I trust timvp so there's no reason to doubt DeadlyDynasty when DPG has vouched for him), and that's good enough for me.

And by the way, if you think about it DeadlyDynasty is also taking just as much of a risk as I am. Maybe I'm the one who will welch (Note: I won't. I always honor my bets). There's no guarantee here. I think it's interesting that everyone kind of assumes that DeadlyDynasty is the only one of this betting pair (DD/myself) who's liable to welch.

If anything, he's probably taking more of a risk than I am. There are two people who have vouched for him in prior bets. I, on the other hand, have never made such a bet on spurstalk and therefore there's no precedence in my case.

Edit: Well, it seems like you were talking about the possibility of DD taking "a few more" bets with other ST members. If this is the case, then I guess my post isn't entirely applicable, but the general point still stands. Not really. They carry the same winning percentage as Golden State from here on out and they probably sneak into the 8th spot. It's scary to think what it means if Bean stays in the facilitator role all the while, there is a starting PG who is a member of the 10K and above assist club and is passing less. We are all used to Bean scoring 30 points on around 30 shots. If he stays the course who know what his team might accomplish. Then I am reminded that Bean ain't no spring chicken and you never know what might set him off into that 1 against 5 hero ball mode. Plus Howard ain't completely healthy and their bench, other than Earl Clark, hasn't been a strong point. They're old, they're off but they're still the Lakers and for as much as we hate them, they can still cause issues but our pace plus persistent play from Parker should be enough to ward them off in 6 games or less. This is the very first sports bet I've ever made, tbh, so this is kind of a neat milestone for me. Thanks all for the congratulations :lol

Obviously I'm not going to act like I didn't get ridiculously lucky with the Kobe injury, although I think potential injuries were definitely an important factor to consider when making the bet in the first place. Lakers were playing top 4 ball in the NBA (by percentage) in the latter half of the season just to make the playoffs, so in that sense it was a shrewd, conditional bet by DD. The Kobe injury was just unfortunate.
