Manu got unlucky and the Spurs got lucky that he signed one year to soon. Based on his production through last year, the 52 mil he got was about what he was worth. Obviously if he had signed after this year it would have been probably 80 or 90 mil.

Manu is already the highest paid Argentinean athlete in history, so I don't think it really bothers him that he's not making 90 million. 52 million is good enough! lol

This time last year when he signed, you were leading the pack saying he "sucks". Too much cash for a bench player. You scoffed at the notion of him averaging 18-20 points or making the All-Star team.

I'd say Manu did fine, while once again, you underachieved in your expectations.

Manu will get payday. They didn't do anything wrong. They have treaded him great
all along. I am sure he got some nice bonus checks from the playoffs and other perks.

It woulda been cool if we coulda signed Tony and Manu to a 50-55 mil contract each, with a million dollar bonus for all-star/finals victory, and a 3 million dollar bonus for a finals MVP award. Thats probably not even legal, but it would be cool.

Speaking of "last summer", any chance I can take back that article I wrote calling out Holt to give Tony what he was looking for :lol

Manu got about what he would have gotten from any other team that would have tried to sign him. Bummer for him he wasn't a free agent after this season.

its not like the spurs KNEW he was going to have an incredibly bad ass season and an incredibly bad ass postseason (not counting the games he got fouled really hard)

If michael Redd is worth Max, and he's not, Manu is worth 2 times Max.

23 years old, gonna average about 18 a game next year, and be an all star.

Yeah, should cut him loose.

not much.

But life is good.

Lets just say me and the ex fiance have gotten back together, profits are way up here in San Diego compared to last year.

This shouldn't turn into ANOTHER Tony vs Manu thread. If you guys want to say Manu is overpaid, then that's cool. But you can't really compare his salary to Tony's. Tony got market value for a point guard and the Spurs did what they needed to do to keep the core entact by getting Tony and Manu signed last summer (with an big assist from Bowen).

Spurs fans bitched for years that the Spurs had too much turnover every season (i.e. 9 new faces in training camp). Now the brass did whatever they needed to do to keep the group entact and everyone is bitching that people are overpaid, underpaid, etc. It's a bunch of crap.

Did you guys know the Spurs just won a title?! The players are enjoying it. Some of you should too.

I'm sure they didn't know he was going to be THAT productive, but I'd bet they knew he would bust his ass off to be the player he is right now.

Newsflash. (this could be old news though) Manu said he'll be in Argentina for a couple of weeks and he would travel to San Antonio to work on his body weight. His goal is to gain a couple of pounds of muscle. He said he was dog tired in a couple of games this year (in the 4th quarter) and in the playoffs.

You know it Kori.

Only downer is not getting to see the Spurs summer league team in Long Beach.

That was an absolute blast last year.

Yeah I'm guess since the Spurs don't have many roster spots to fill, it wasn't worth it to have two summer league teams this season.

Yeah.

I understand why they wouldn't.

Its cool, more time for the gf and malibu.

Make sure & get yourself an Alberto's Carne Asada burrito & then try the Rubio's fish tacos. Other than that I miss having a Cinnabon in every mall.

Ive been to rubios many a times, good mexican food, but not touching the fish tacos.

My gf loves the fish tacos, of course shes a native californian.

If I was Manu I would hold out.

for what, he cant get a new contract. This isn't the NFL where you can tear up a contract.

How do we know that Manu will excel next year? As far as we know, he could become less then average.

We don't know.

I highly doubt that.

The summer of no basketball will be unbelieveable for him.

He'll come out of the chute in November and December a man possessed.

Sequ, you flip-flop more than T-Park. One minute you love Tony Parker and say that Manu=Manure, the next minute you say Parker will lose his starting position if he doesn't get his shot back and that Manu=underpaid Manure.

:wtf

IMHO, Manu is happy with his contract.
He'll make millions from endorsements and I don't think he spends money like Patrick Ewing.
Manu is a rare breed who is more about the winning and we can thank his being from Argentina for that.

State fair possibly

your exactly right.

Not my favorite business spot we do all year,

hot as fuck, people are assholes and total trash, and its the weirdest laid out city Ive ever seen.

BTW, Bobby Jackson comes out to the fair aout 8 times bringing kids to play the games and ride the rides.

Met him a couple times, small talk and such, really nice guy.

Wish the Spurs could pull off my dream trade of Beno and whatever for Bobby.

A healthy Bobby Jackson ( I know thats an oxymoron) would be absolutely unbelieveable on the Spurs.

52 million in Argentina is like 300 million in the states.
