Fort Hood shooter could be spared the death penalty

The new judge in the Fort Hood shooting case could decide this week whether or not the accused shooter, Nidal Hasan, could face the death penalty.The judge will take into consideration some of the motions previously rejected in this ever-changing case. According to Hasan's attorney, he wants to plead guilty to 13 counts of premeditated murder.
Currently, this is a death penalty case, and under military rules the judge cannot accept a guilty plea when the death penalty is an option. If the death penalty is eliminated as an option, Hasan's punishment would be life without the possibility of parole.
Hasan is accused of killing 13 people and injuring 32 others at Fort Hood Army base in 2009.

Imho, the death penalty is too easy of a way out for scumbags like that guy.... he deserves to slowly rot away in a cell for the rest of his days.... it's also actually cheaper for the taxpayers to NOT give him the death penalty - why should we spend extra money on mass murderers?
