i just found 1 & 2 in an old cd case and just started playing again. there are some lobbies on voobly.com that have like 1,000 ppl playin on aoe2

apparently voobly is the new microsoft gaming zone that allowed multiplayer online games through aoe

I will give it a try. I did enjoy Lords of the Rings and Halo wars. Is the online community still booming? I stopped playing the other games because the numbers dwindled.

:lol I was addicted to AOE2. I don't even wanna know how many hours I spent playing that game. There's a site where you can download it for like $5 but my life would become a lot less productive. Empire Earth was another good one tbh.

Also...

:lol Algeria
:lol terrorists

age of empires II is basically the same as AOE I tbh, not much change to be noticed tbh. shit is one of the best video games and i used to play it A LOT but there're still some other real time strategy games which some people would argue are the best of all, such as red alert series, WoW etc...

im more addicted to grand strategy games though, like heart of iron series for example, or some round-based games like panzer general.

The way my friend explained it, WoW isn't a RTS

But yeah, I was a fan of the command & conquer series, more specifically red alert....that hangs with aoe

Lol I wasted many hours on AOE and all the expansions.

I think Empire Earth isn't quite as good play-wise, but being able to build airports and drop nukes made it worthwhile

Damn, now I'm going to have play AOE later.

Used to play online at work (lunch time). We had a team from work, and would play other crews. It was cool.

Age of Empires was cool, but SimCity was the shit, tbh....

Sim City was alright but i started with plans to create an utopia and always ended up with a shit hole, filled with poverty, areas with no basic needs and debt. I had fun destroying cities with natural disasters though.

Age of Empires 2 was the shit back in the day, also enjoyed Age of Mythology from the same studio.

Used to love AOE 1 and 2. However, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds is basically a better version of AOE 2.

I still play AOE 2 and Galactic Battlegrounds online from time to time.

Still, pretty much nothing could beat the Choson, because they had long range towers to defend your city, and fully upgradable Legions with 2x HP. Combine that with logistics, and you had a swarm of 350+ Legions with high HP count. Basically impossible to stop a massive swarm like that.

CHoson were fucking hard to stop... I forgot what the counter was... it's been so long? I remember you basically had to fight choson versus choson and be sure to attack first

Basically you just had to hope you could get to them before they get to you. But that's hard because of their long range ballista towers.

Which game is the one with the long range archers? Was that on one of the expansions?

Sounds right.

they were killed easy, but you get a big group of them and they were big fun taking out towers and such

Remember all the C&C series well -- interesting plots and music on top of good game-play will do that, I guess.

I was always into TBS more than RTS games, though -- Alpha Centauri, Jagged Alliance, Age of Wonders, Heroes of Might and Magic 3...
