Play the hell out of Kobe and Dwight, Pops. 46 minutes each should do it.

I can't wait to see him walk out for the introduction! He will have to go through all the fireworks and the dancing girls while listening to insanely loud hip hop music! Just look for the guy with the biggest scowl on his face!

danmccarneysaen Pop calls All-Star coaching gig "a heck of an opportunity to enjoy amazing talent. That's not just a BS or trite statement. It's true."

Tweet from Dan McCarney of San Antonio Express News.

Does Pop really mean those words....LOL!! :lmao

Pop should send Tony and Timmy home so they can rest during the break.

Pop coaching the All Star game in a year when the Spurs potentially have a good amount of cap space :wow

That is an angle that he should definitely exploit.

It's also a heck of an opportunity to gain the endorsements of players who are likely to be significant parts of Team USA in 2014-2016-2018 and may have some say about who should coach them in those tournaments.

Can't wait to see the ASG boxscore and read Tim Duncan/Tony Parker DNP: Old.

At the end, I'm sure both Pop and Duncan will enjoy being at the ASG.

Spurs RRT is very friendly travel wise this year and the game is in Houston, so it will work well for them.

IMO Pop likes to work with different talents. He's been with the spurs so long that he will enjoy this years weekend.
I wonder how he will handle minutes. Last time he was in charge of the West as I remember he divided almost the same amount on every player. Not good if you want to win ASG these days.

Fun fun fun

Bruce Bowen ‏@Bowen12 (https://twitter.com/Bowen12) 1 of the best things Pop ever said to me concerning Pre-Game interviews, don't awaken a hibernating bear! Mr. Evans meet Lebron James!

its actually good that he is coaching so he can monitor Timmy minutes

If Howard is still hurting by the ASG, Pop should (jokingly) tell him "Dwight, you're playing 48 tonight, and I want you setting HARD screens for Harden going left every possession."

I honestly would not be the least bit surprised if TD sits this one out.

Nah. Once Howard shuts it down for the season, Timmy will start.

Dwight's gotten two coaches canned and may well be on his way to a third. I think he'd welcome the challenge of getting a coach fired just in the space of a weekend.

Congratulations to Coach Pop. I think under the surface he's secretly pleased. And it's a great opportunity to get to know players a little closer for him, who knows, maybe planting the seeds of persuasion into joing the Spurs fold in the future. Like LaMarcus Aldridge!
