Yeah, Miami is making Zona look better by the day. Kinda curious where the U would be ranked had they not lost to Florida Gulf Coast (lol) and Indiana State earlier this season. They'd be 19-1 with their lone loss to UA on a neutral court...probably vying for a #1 seed

Miami took care of business tonight, raping BC. I saw a graphic that said they had the hardest SOS in NCAA to date, but could be wrong. Florida's getting their ass kicked too, so the U will continue to climb

Another #1 goes down! What a meltdown by Indiana in the last couple minutes...giving up a backdoor cut with <1 sec left is embarrassing.

There were 7 teams ranked ahead of Miami going into the week, and 4 of them have lost (Florida, Indiana, Michiganx2, and Kansasx2). Miami should be ranked no lower than 4th next week, as they are 10-0 in the ACC and are the first team in NCAA history to beat Duke and UNC by 25+ pts in the same season. I'm obviously biased, but I think they should be ranked 2nd--they've been more impressive than Duke, and have a better RPI than Gonzaga. Arizona should be #1.

AZ needs to win impressively today to be considered for #1.

My guess with AZ win:

1. Duke
2. Miami
3. Arizona
4. Gonzaga
5. Indiana
6. Florida
7. Ohio State
8. Syracuse
9. Michigan
10. Michigan State

apparently nobody wants #1. Duke wins by a point today, do they still get it? zona loses. I think Miami deserves it actually.

Ohio State lost today. I couldn't care less. Arizona is really pissing me off. Their losses aren't bad, but are results of terrible play. They really aren't building to anything. Really disappointing.

Miami #1, Duke #2, who cares.

DeadlyDynasty

Fucking Duke held on today...can't believe Zona dropped one at home against Cal:wow Miami should be #1, Indiana #2. Hoosiers rebounded about as good as you can after that loss to Illinois.

DeadlyDynasty

Look for Syracuse to make a big jump too--they're a good bid for a #1 seed now that Southerland's back for the home stretch.

If you've watched Arizona shit the bed repeatedly at home, a loss to Cal isn't shocking, just enraging.

Monty is a very good coach. If Crabbe stays, they'll contend for top-20 next year.

I honestly think Arizona will finish 6-1 down the stretch (lone loss to UCLA).

Miami is just razing through teams like forest fires in the Everglades. :lol Duke

But you have to give it to the Devils, they're always a prime candidate for regular season champs every season.

Miller has let this team turn into a run & chuck fast break team that doesn't play a lick of defense and doesn't seem to want to do anything to turn it around. You send a bad message when Angelo Chol is coming off a great performance only to lose any chance to build on it because Miller thinks Grant Jerrett has earned a guaranteed 15+ minutes a games because he "spaces the floor!" even though he walks around hunched over and doesn't play defense. As bad as this team was last year, it's gotten worse at defense but just so much better at offense the two more than offset. You wouldn't see them give up 59% shooting at home last year.

Someone on ESPN said the other day that scoring was so bad this year because outside of Coach K, Tom Izzo and a few others, every coach is running the most vanilla sets on offense that are easy to defend. It's as if he was talking about Sean Miller, because the offensive sets this team runs are horrible and as plain as it gets. He obviously shouldn't be on the hotseat, but he's got some serious flaws as a coach that need to be addressed, i.e., the way Mark Lyons has completely taken over the locker room and made this his team that has no balance on offense and can't do anything against zones other than chuck 30 footers.

It was a nice win. This team has something teams in the past havent had. That is resiliency. Durand Scott and Reggie Johnson are this team come Tournament time. Cool larkin does some nice stuff and Kadji is a nice player but Scott and Johnson will be who determine how far this team goes in the memento.

Scott made some tough shots tonight, but he made a couple TERRIBLE decisions late in the game that almost cost the U. I'm much more comfortable with the ball in Larkin's hands at the end.

I like larkin in the the pick n roll but thats not gonna work so easily deep in to the tournament. Durand Scott offers better ball handling and a better iso game which I feel will be necessary for this team to make a deep run in the tourney. That is also why I feel Reggie is the second most important player on this team; he can be given the ball in the post and you can expect him to score the majority of the time or atleast make the right play.

Dont get me wrong Larking probably shows more promise than any current player on the roster, but for this season it is up to Scott and Johnson to carry this team in the tournament.

5-2 finish for Miami and they are ACC champs. Never would of thought that to start the season. Did not think Michigan State had any chance at a Big Ten title either this year. I picked them 4th in the conference. Izzo doing his thing once again.

I love this team...5 different players came up big at the end:

-Kenny Kadji with a big block on a 3PA
-Rion Brown with a big rebound (and much-needed bench scoring)
-Reggie Johnson w/ the dunk
-Shane Larkin making things happen and closing games per par
-Durand Scott steal and FT's

They've shown they can win close games and in this one they hit the FTs when they counted.

FlaSpursFan
02-20-2013, 06:41 AM
This team needs to get more urgency on offense. When our guards attack off the pick n roll they can make stuff happen, but passing around the arc for 25 seconds most possessions isnt going to work.

Florida must suck if they can get beat by a horrible coach in Frank Haith.

MannyIsGod

It pretty much is a free for all. Assuming the Lobos win out and win the MWC tourney there's no way we don't finish in the top 8 or so and make the case for a 1 seed. I seriously doubt a 1 seed is in the cards (except maybe baring a Gonzaga loss in their tourney) but I think we should be in the conversation if we win out.

Winning the MWC tourney is not going to be easy, though.

It sucks cause we would have broken into the top 10 with Florida and KSU losing. But really its not that big of a deal. I'm more concerned with winning the upcoming conference tourney. I think if we flame out early we're looking at a 3 seed. Need to at the least make the final.
