“I definitely can see both of those teams (as possibilities),’’ Conley said in a telephone interview with FOX Sports Florida. “San Antonio has an aging front line with (Tim) Duncan, and with Duncan and the Admiral (retired David Robinson, who still lives in San Antonio), he would have some great mentors.

Beating the drum. Guess Miami and Cleveland didn't bite.

Oh they probably bit but they threw SA in there to up the ante. He is using us as a bluff to see if he can A.) draw more interest from others or B.) Get more $$$ out of Miami.

That's not it, Miami only has so much money they can offer. Both sides know that.

This guy just sat out an entire year. If he gets on the right team with the right staff he could still be a cornerstone to a franchise. How many decent 7 foot 285 pound guys that can get down the court do you know in the NBA?

I don't know of any named Greg Oden that's for sure. How many Greg Odens have you seen play a full or even half a season? That's an even better question.

This further confirms the meager status of the Spurs among casual NBA fans (like Oden and his agent) --

Same echelon as the Charlotte Bobcats. :toast

Oden's desperately trying to find ANYONE dumb enough to offer him a contract. Who it is makes no difference as long as there's a dollar amount and a signature on the check.

The dude is always hurt. Hard to build your franchise around someone that never plays. No, Greg Oden's best hope is to become a role player at this point and log some minutes on the floor for once.

we'll see what happens this offseason. if tiago leaves, the spurs might be interested... otherwise, all the money is probably going to splitter.

spurs can match anything offer to splitter, its just a case of valueing his worth, be stupid if some shitty team tests the spurs and throws a max contract to him

Anything north of 40 mil/4 years, then bye bye Splitter. He might actually be worth that money, but IMHO not in this Spurs team current scheme & structure.

Oden just wants some more money to hit on the skanks at dive country bars in the outskirts of (insert NBA city name here). Guy is straight washed up. Go back and get your degree and get behind a desk Oden.

Oh, and Splitter is not worth more than 8 million a year. He's getting close but he's not there yet.

He won't play this year. His agent is trying to get some team to pay him to rehab.

I wish the Spurs would trade a couple of pieces for draft picks and call up CoJo and Jackson or Green from Austin and then stand pat. Screw all this trade talk shit!

Not if he's mentioning us in the same breath as the Bobcats.

Looks like it'll be a homecoming with the Cavs. Sorry Cavs owners, Oden isn't going to help season ticket sales.

Greg Oden is a liablity....whats the point of the tread...damaged goods NO WAY!

If a 15th roster spot open up, I like the idea of Oden. I can't see a downside to such a low risk, high reward move. Sign him now, help him rehab, see if he can play next training camp and keep him if he can. If he can't, then you waive him. Seems pretty straightforward.

If Oden can play at all, he automatically will be at the very least a league average center and likely a top ten defensive center. His size, length and anticipation alone raises his floor pretty damn high. As long as he can run the court without his knees exploding, he's going to be good.

TDMVPDPOY
02-08-2013, 06:41 PM
he can still be effective even without any vertical.....so what is wrong with the knees? if he jumps more damage?

DrunkTXLabrat
02-08-2013, 06:48 PM
i could take him or leave him. he's probably gonna get hurt again. spurs have baynes. he's not even gonna play again until next year. if he stays healthy though, i think he'll be a really good big. he'd be on a cheap contract, and he's still pretty young. spurs would be deep at big, so those knees would get plenty rest.

I'd throw a 1 year contract with a team option for a 2nd for Oden, I don't think Bynum will take pennies on the dollar for his services. Bynum's knees are shot.
