The Phoenix Suns (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/teams/page/PHO/phoenix-suns) are reshuffling the entire organization as they transition from the Steve Nash (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/players/playerpage/6715/steve-nash) era to the Michael Beasley (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/players/playerpage/1622495/michael-beasley) era and then quickly to whatever era they can find next. When you're trying to rebuild your organization, you typically want to find young players you can groom, market, and build into core members of your future.
According to Yahoo Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--suns-pursuing-trade-for-knicks-guard-iman-shumpert-003613494.html#more-id), one of those young players the Phoenix Suns are targeting is New York Knicks (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/teams/page/NY/new-york-knicks)' guard Iman Shumpert (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/players/playerpage/1646428/iman-shumpert).

As the Phoenix Suns try to reshuffle their roster for the future, their front office remains motivated to try to acquire New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Suns are willing to give New York a package that includes forward Jared Dudley (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/players/playerpage/1240149/jared-dudley) and possibly a future first-round pick for Shumpert, but the Knicks have so far shown no inclination to do such a deal (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/eye-on-basketball/21676489/report-phoenix-suns-would-like-to-acquire-knicks-iman-shumpert#), sources said.

Mortgage your future for a player who is shooting 28% on two-pointers this year. Yeah, great plan :tu

Seriously though, I'm sure they want Iman Shumpert because he's a pressure on-ball defender like Lindsey Hunter used to be. In reality, though, once the opponent adjusts to that type of defender by having someone else pick up ballhandling slack, it loses effectiveness. Hunter may have been the best ever at pressuring ballhandlers (as the Spurs found out in the 2005 Finals; take a bow Beno Udrih) but, really, he was more of a gimmick than anything. One adjustment and his skill becomes a non-factor.

The Suns are so stupid, it's painful.... I'm beginning to wonder if Isiah is secretly "consulting" their front office, just like he was doing with the Knicks when they traded half their team for Melo :lol
