View Full Version : Heat: Lebron saying it doesnt bother him (repeatedly) tells me ...

.... Means it really bothers him. I love how he pulled out the Horry card, and even threw out Jud Buehcler ...:lol

Look I have been banging the Lebron is the best and it's not close ...and the chance to surpass MJ drum all season (and last)
But the latest denials makes me wonder about him again. I dont blame him for defending himself ... or for the fact that having his idol choose Bryant hurts. I just think a player playing as great as LEbron is right now ...shouldnt get sucked in to MJ's trolling ....publicly. OF course MJ's choice of Kobe was self-serving ...Kobe tried to eclipse Jordan and failed, he is no longer a threat, James still has an outside shot. I just wish (for his sake) that this stuff would not bother him so much outwardly. The "I could win the scoring title if wanted" .... and his rings should not be the judge of someone's career just sounds weak to me. MJ is throwing out a challenge and James should seek to meet it. Remember not 1, not 2, not 3 ...? MJ threw out a challenge James has a great team .... and he is by far the best player ... so go after 7, shut MJ up. Outwardly he should of stopped at MJ is entitled to his opinion ...but internally he should be burning for 7 just like Kobe burns for it or MJ wanted to win more than Magic. To me it just sounded like he is preparing "his defense" if he falls short.

OH and MJ is throwing out the ring thing ...because he figures there is a chance LBJ wont get 6 ... and if he does, after he already threw out the "I would of never joined Wade's team card" ... 3 years ago. Trust me, both MJ and LBJ are bothered right now. MJ by the LBJ may be the future GOAT ...and James by his responses ... this is James league stop letting this stuff bother you James you abbove this shit or should be.

The rings argument is for people that are not intelligent enough to form actual arguments using numbers and analysis, tbh..

Advanced stats have progressed nicely into NBA media, they will continue to grow in the NBA world as the years progress, tbh..

There are certain players that are negatively affected by quantifying their impact, tbh..

Sure advanced metrics have value, still doesnt matter more than the respect of your peers or your idol. their are analytics that say Lebron is already A GOAT candidate ... that did not seem to matter as much to James as what MJ said tbh ...

Yep. Just like they have in baseball. Batting average was once the be-all, end all of a player's impact and value, now no one gives a shit about it. "Per game" stats need to become similarly obsolete.

some players may have perfect advanced stats but retire w/o a ring, which's another example that people don't get fairly rewarded for their capabilities and efforts in this society. it's still the rings and trophies for which players often get recognized

agree to an extent but bball is different than baseball ...

Ball is about the gym, the barbershop and arguing with buddies. Analytics comes up a bit ... but ball is so much more than boxscores and advanced metrics.

Of course it is. My point is that per game stats tell us less about a player's statistical impact than advanced stats, which take pace into consideration. Rebound rate tells me who is a better rebounder than rebounds-per-game and so forth.

And as far as Lebron goes, he's the best "eye test" player in the NBA, since so much of what he does on the court can't be quantified by stats.

No doubt. I think Lebron is gonna past all tests: advanced, traditional eye tests and maybe even the ring one too ...

I've only read and listened to Brons reply to Jordan once.
Where do you get "repeatedly"?
Akin, you say you "don't blame him for defending himself"? Compare and contrast.

While i also would like to see LeBron ignore the self serving insecure Jordan, when the media constantly has a mic in your face and it prolly intensified 1000Xs at the ASG, i see no problem with Bron stating what true hoop is all about vs Jordan and the wring counters spew.

He's only answering the questions he's being asked. And knowing this is during ASW and Jordan 50th, this whole story is being magnified 100x over by the 500 reporters asking the exact same question. How else do you expect him to respond??

And that's a good thing tbh. That's what should fuel a player, the desire to get the next ring. What other players, media or people in general think about him is irrelevant imo and he shouldn't let that bother him.

damn Ambchang goes HAM on Rapist fan 24/7, good work.

what's funny is all this GOAT (post MJ) talk always leaves out Duncan. he's got the stats, advanced metrics and hardware, yet because he doesn't jump around like Caesar as he rescues other chimps, he gets no love.

I don't blame Lebron for getting annoyed with this talk though. the Kobe Lebron discussion would never have mattered if Kobe hadn't bitched his way onto the Lakers to start his career. Lebron wasted a lot of his prime trying to create something out of Cleveland. MJ was able to do it in Chicago, but Lebron is no MJ.

I gave up on Laker fans except for a select few years ago...there were a few Laker fans this week on LG saying we should trade Howard for KG+Rondo and see if we can get Pierce as well. I'm not saying 1 or 2 fans were suggesting it, I mean about 20+ fans said that's a good trade. I dunno...that shit is bs to me. Some bandwagoner bs right there. They were like 'man Kobe+Rondo...dream duo right there'.

I'm thinking to myself...it's really hard to get along with Kobe. Only Gasol was able to withstand the bullshit and even he got frustrated after some BS happened in 2011 that he tried to keep down low but said 'there's some stuff off the court that has made this year hard'. How the hell can you tell me Rondo is going to fit side by side with Kobe?

I thought this demise was obvious after 2010. It was CLEAR as day by 2011 when Jim Buss took over and fired everyone that this franchise is going to go through some BS for the next few years.

I am a fan of ball first ...
But read this thread ... you posted in. I love his talent, think he has GOAT potential ... but mentally he sometimes seems to shrink from challenges or make excuses when he does succeed. For example, it was nice to hear him say well I lack creativity for a dunk contest ...I thought he was being genuine and wondered about that myself. But I would want (or wish) that he would of done it just to challenge himself. Sure it's just a contest but to put his stamp on one ...would of MEANT something even if he lost, just taking the challenge. He seems like he really does appreciate the history of the game ... why not breathe some life in a floundering contest?

As for the ASG I cant believe folks are trying to spin this... there is no need. If you feel he was coasting than fine, he shrank from a challenge because it was clear Bryant was calling him out...if you concede that he did try and fail ...should that undo a whole season of dominant play? Lebron is the best plyer in the game. I dont think at this stage he is better than a "prime Kobe" ...only that he has THAT KIND OF POTENTIAL. if he maximizes that his ceiling is higher than MJ's or Kobe's ... but he wanted to go back at Kobe ... maybe he was not in Playoff mode and Koeb was but he was trying and he failed ...period. He cant win them all ...

My point was this WHOLE WEEKEND the things he says makes me wonder if he will ever realize that potential.

AndI wont apologize for being a fan of Lebron's game. I root for the Heat to lose most nights unless they play the Celts or some team I generally dislike, but me as a student of teh game wanting to see James maximize his talent (unlike Shaq, for example) is what is best for the game. Why would want the league in the hands of a player who does not?

I can respect you appreciating his game..but the way you giggle and gaggle over that nigga in almost every thread is suspect...I suspect you're merely fascinated with Lebron's size...like most people were fascinated with Shaq's girth...(well except that hooker he slept with that said his dick was small) :lol but after watching MJ and Kobe I don't see much to Lebron's game except powerful dunks he's gets off of screens or in the open court...his game isnt very skillful and artful he does everything with raw power and speed...and that's not enough to impress me...just like Blake Griffin's dunks..I ran into Shawn Kemp yesterday and got a chance to chat with him briefly and he reminded me of why I appreciated the "skill" of the slam dunk... Lebron is efficient, and can score on inferior talent..but he's doing it when he faces no real competitors at his position...he's doing it in a league where some of the previous greats are pass their prime...Lebron faced a few teams that had great players and or very good players across the board and when he faced those teams he lost badly...for example Dallas, Boston, and SA...imagine if he had to routinely face teams that would have put a foot in his ass and came back at him on the offensive end..teams like 2000-2003 Kings, Spurs, Trailerblazers, etc. Kobe showed us a glimpse last night of what life would have been like for Lebron had he faced a prime Kobe on the regular...

Sure some of it is the size/speed ratio, LeBron is blessed that way he also is a great passer. If he died in a car crash today no way is he greater than Kobe, mj, Magic etc. I just think his upside is tremendous and he appears to be getting better ...I just think mentally he needs work.

bron has the potential to be the best ever to play this game, even though he's not likely to exceed jordan or kobe in terms of rings & other personal honors. there were elite players in NBA history but no one could dominate the game the way bron does. bron has been the league's best player for quite a few years and he keeps improving his play through the course. dude just needs to get more clutch and mentally more mature. he's not yet the greatest of all time, but he's very close tbh
