Just....cookies. Like last year's OKC series. Bad luck, plaguing the Spurs since 2008. :( :pctoss

yeah, kyrie was just on fire. matt put up a good number though, even though the pressure was on big time. maybe it's a sign of things to come???

Did way better than I thought he would.

19 and 20 is at about the 3rd quartile winning score, well above the mean and median. Irving just got lucky ala the Thunderfags last year.

Matt might have gotten 25 if he got to go first.

I think that was answered years ago, NO.

Did way better than I thought he would.

Exactly. I am guessing in the playoffs he just has to imagine he's in the 3pt shooting contest and there are no defenders.

I'm really happy for him, and proud. Glad he did so well. I'm sure he understands that Kyrie was shooting out of his mind and that he should be proud of how well he shot.

And he almost didn't get in? Shame. Guess Stern was relieved to see Kyrie winning instead from his hated boring Spurs.

truth bomb

tonight just proves when it matters Bonner's % goes down to about 30% which is very pedestrian. at least spursfan should be forewarned when playoffs come around and the red rocket is open in the wings.

well at least irving didn't shoot this well against the Spurs...

Lol @ people using this as proof he will choke.

He did pretty damn well in this contest.

This would be a good time to sell high and trade his ass, tbh

Tbh if this means he's going to hit his shots come April I'll be okay with it.

But this is Bonner we're talking about.

You don't get scores of 19 and 20 by shooting 30%... he shot well but Irving was just hitting everything. It's not like Bonner pulled a Paul George on us.

Put a body in front of him n he shoots 30

Exactly, trade his ass asap, since he couldn't realize his life dream, he will probably play worse from no on, he won't have any drive anymore.

Bon-bon did pretty well actually - I was pulling for him - I don't know what is happening to me...

It was a good showing for Bonner but as Kenny said Irving was out to prove a point. You could see him getting in the zone in the final round. Oth Paul George showed why he shouldn't have been in the contest.

Bonner did very good and he did not embarass the Spurs like Tony Parker did ...

Yeah you're right, this is most likely as a result of Matt 'choking' his way to a massive 19 and 20 rather than an indication that humans fatigue over the course of physical competition... :lol

thats probably a good thing. i'd much rather have Bonner shoot without hesitation than have him drive

Still, he's learned from this, and still contends this contest should be his to lose. And what would he tell future three-point contest rookies?

"I stick by my story. I think most years I would win. If anything, having a year under my belt of experience, maybe I'll be a little less nervous and be able to score a little more," Bonner insisted. "I wouldn't tell them anything, because hopefully I'm in it, too, and I'd want to beat them."

Best shooter in the world tbh. :tu

he was still the best in the West after round 1... and put up even more in round 2

I'm not at all disappointed in Matt's showing. He proved he's a consistent 3pt shooter, that he belonged there, and that he should be back next year.

Irving is a great 3pt shooter, but streaky. He's the kind of guy who will put up 13s, 14s, 15s, occaisionally get 17-19, and once every 10 tries gets a 23. Bonner will consistently put up 18-21 every time.

It just so happened that Irving got hot tonight. Congrats to him, but Bonner shouldn't feel bad. He did choke on the first few shots of the 2nd round though, but recovered right away and seemed like he might pull a tie anyway until right at the end. It was impressive imo. Props to Bonner for the strong performance.

Lol at shooting 25 3 point shots being some supreme physical contest for an nba athlete
matt did well but he probably should have gone first
you could see the pressure get to him and before drz and other bonnerfags join this thread and want some proof of his choking
he already has been quoted saying pressure got to him

new east vs west format is terrible
jj redick should definitely have been there, he needs to start his letredickshoot campaign
i think bonner could get in next year
hes a good story for the nba and he has some natural charisma they could market
